Bengaluru, Oct 11: The BJP Yuva Morcha has lodged a police complaint against acclaimed thinker and historian Ramachandra Guha in the wake of his outburst against Sangh Parivar sponsored violence in India.
The complaint was lodged with Malleswaram police station in Bengaluru by Sankeerth Thady, secretary of BJP Yuva Morcha, on Tuesday after Guha ignored a legal notice that sought an apology from him for linking the Sangh parivar to the murder of senior journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh.
"We waited for Guha to respond," Tejaswi Surya, the Yuva Morcha's Karnataka president, told reporters. "Now we are proceeding with a criminal case against baseless accusations against us."
The Yuva Morcha, the BJP's youth wing, had sent the notice on September 11 following Guha's comments after the September 5murder of the journalist who had taken on the Sangh parivar through her writings.
Malleswaram police forwarded the complaint for legal opinion before deciding on the next course of action.
In his complaint, Sankeerth said that in an interview given to a website in the context of killing of journalist Gauri Lankesh in Bengaluru, Guha had said that it is very likely that her murderers may be from the same Sangh Parivar from which the murderers of Dabholkar, Pansare and Kalburgi came.
The complainant alleged Guha had made allegations against the RSS without any proof, though probe was still under way. The complaint said the accusation not only amounted to illegal interference in the course of justice, but was also made with ulterior motives.
