Mangaluru, Aug 5: Even as the students of St Thomas Aided Higher Primary School at Bondanthila in Mangaluru taluk, rubbished the allegations of compulsory' Arabic class, the Sri Ram Sena has continued to accuse the school management of forcibly' teaching Arabic. The saffron outfit has also demanded the school headmaster to withdraw complaint against the Hindutva activists.

Addressing media persons here on Friday Mahesh Kumar Koppa, Karnataka state unit president of the Sena, warned to hold massive protests in front of all Catholic churches in Dakshina Kannada if the case was not withdrawn.

Describing the act of miscreants, who barged into the school, as their “democratic right”, Mr Koppa said that it was just a visit following the request of some of the parents and not an act of rowdyism. According to eye witnesses, the miscreants had threatened the teacher and even snatched books from the students when the Arabic class was going on.

“Our activists had visited the school peacefully and submitted a representation to headmaster Melwyn Braggs urging him to stop Arabic classes. He had also agreed to fulfil our demand”, Mr Koppa said and added that later Mr Braggs lodged a false complaint against the activists.

At the behest of school management, the police have filed charges of trespassing and preventing a government official from discharging their duties against the members. The false case should be withdrawn, he demanded.

Claiming that there was a political motive behind filing such cases against Hinduvta activists, he held Catholic churches responsible for this. “We will hold protest against this and also will wage a legal battle,” he said.

ISIS terrorists!

Mr Koppa suspected the hand of “conversion racket” behind Arabic teaching in the school managed by Christians. He went on to claim that such classes will motivate people to become ISIS terrorists. Instead of Arabic, the school can teach Tulu script, Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana and Mahabharata and other Hindu scriptures, he suggested.

Mr Koppa also said that the State government and the district administration should immediately intervene in the cases of schools teaching Arabic without obtaining permission.

“How can they teach Arabic in a government aided school?” he argued and urged the government not to spend tax-payers money for this school and its teachers. He also exhorted the education department to conduct a probe into the incidents of teaching Arabic.

This Koppa needs to be admitted to a mental hospital. He is not normal. Christians convert; Muslims are terrorists and Dalits are beef eaters and beef is more important than humans. By repeating lies, lies do not become truths. Send the entire gang of BJP, RSS, VHP, BD and Rama Sene to Andamans. They need to be exiled for peace in Mangalore

Why you people are not fighting to make Sanskrit a compulsory language?. I feel it should be done so that everyone should learn the Holy Vedas. do you know that Gayathri Manthra in the arabic version is the first chapter of the Quran
Gayathri Manthra : OM BhurBhuva Swaha
Tatsavitur Varenyam
Bhargo devasya
Dheemahi Dhiyo Yonaha
Prachodayat
Meaning: we meditate on the Glory of the Creator who has created the universe who is worthy of worship who is embodiment of knowledge and light who is the remover of sin and ignorance May He open our hearts and May He guide us

Al Fathiha First chapter :
In the name of the Lord most merciful most beneficent
Praise be to the Lord of the universe Most merciful most Beneficent
Master of the day of judgement
To you alone we worship and to you alone we ask for help
Guide us to the straight path
The path of those whom you have blessed and not the path of those on whom your anger has fallen and not those who have gone astray

This Sri Rama Sena is a curse. Doing all unnecessary things. This group is actually funded by Saudi Arabia. They want to curb true Hindutva groups such as Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad.

Bengaluru, July 13: As Bengaluru prepares for a seven-day lockdown from Tuesday following the spike in COVID- 19 cases, opposition parties in Karnataka have urged the government to enforce the measure in the entire state.

JD(S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda and Congress working president Eshwar Khandre have demanded that the entire state be placed under lockdown.

Welcoming the government's decision to implement the lockdown in Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Gowda said, "I urge the government through the media to enforce lockdown in the entire state."

The former Prime Minister in a statement appealed to people of the state and the entire country to wear masks while venturing out, maintain social distancing, clean hands with sanitizer regularly, and to come out only if there is necessary work.

Stating that allegations of misappropriation have been made by several leaders against the government in implementing measures and packages to control spread of the virus and its impact, Gowda said, "whatever it is let's discuss about it in the next legislature session, at present health of the people is important and let's focus on it."

The government should work in this direction, we are all with the government, let's not play with the health of the people, he said, adding that "I appeal that at least from here on work actively."

With a spike in Covid-19 cases, the Karnataka government on Saturday announced complete lockdown in Bengaluru Urban and Rural from July 14 to 22.

The lockdown is from 8 pm on July 14 to 5 am on July 22.

Congress leader Khandre, meanwhile reminded Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa that COVID cases and related fatalities were not only increasing in Bengaluru but also in the border districts of the state.

The situation was getting out of hand in Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Raichur, Koppal, Ballari districts, he alleged.

"So implement strict lockdown once again in the state at least for fifteen days."

"Bring the situation under control. I appeal to the government that in this lockdown period at least to correct its past shortcomings and take all measures to face the pandemic efficiently in the future," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa will be chairing video conference with Deputy Commissioners, Zilla Panchayat CEOs and Superintendents of Police of various districts regarding the COVID situation and the rains.

As of July 12 evening, cumulatively 38,843 COVID-19 positive cases have been confirmed in the state, which includes 684 deaths and 15,409 discharges.

Bengaluru Urban district tops the list of positive cases, with a total of 18,387 infections. Of the 2,627 fresh cases reported in the state on Sunday, a whopping 1,525 cases were from Bengaluru Urban alone.

April 20,2020

Bengaluru, Apr 20: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday came down heavily on Congress legislator BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan over the Padarayanapura vandalism that saw a mob run amok against efforts to quarantine suspected COVID-19 persons late on Sunday evening.

Khan, who represents the Chamarajpet constituency where Padarayanapura is located, said that authorities should have gone to the area during day time.

“Who is he to say that? What does he have to do with this? Why should we ask him? Should we get his permission to carry out government work? Instead of saying that action should be taken, he is speaking like this. Should we then think that he incited the mob? This is the height of being irresponsible,” Yediyurappa said.

Following the violence, the police have arrested 54 persons and “five more will be arrested,” Yediyurappa said.

Khan clarified that he did not defend those who indulged in vandalism. “I condemn the incident and action should be taken. I’m not saying officials shouldn’t have gone. My point is that they should’ve gone during the day and by creating awareness beforehand that people need to be quarantined,” he said, adding that the BBMP had identified 57 people to be quarantined in Padarayanapura.

“People in this area are poor, uneducated and are mostly coolie workers and daily wagers. But whatever happened was wrong,” Khan said. He also pointed out that he was the one who arranged for 80 people to be quarantined in Tipu Nagar.

Yediyurappa said the Padarayanapura incident was unprecedented. “In the entire state, never had such incidents taken place. Everybody agrees this is unacceptable,” the CM said. “Whoever breaks the law - Hindu, Muslim, Christian or anyone - should face action,” he said.

April 7,2020

Bengaluru, Apr 7: The Karnataka Government indicated today that it is too early to take a call now on lifting the nation-wide lockdown but said it’s in favour of its extension in COVID-19 hotspots in the country by at least an additional two weeks.

“We need to see for another few days before taking final call,” Medical Education Minister Sudhakar K, who is in-charge of all matters related to COVID-19, told news agency Press Trust of India when asked if the State is in favour of the rollback after the 21-day period ends on April 14.

The minister opined that the decision on its withdrawal should be based on the COVID-19 pandemic situation at the time in terms of number of cases and response to the outbreak.

When the lockdown is lifted, it has to be in a staggered and phased manner, and not at one go, Mr Sudhakar stressed.

“Where there are red alerts and zones, those zones, in my opinion, should continue to be in a lockdown situation at least for two weeks…till this month-end, I will request them (the Centre) to do this,” he said.

The Telananga Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday appealed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to extend the 21-day national lockdown imposed to contain COVID-19 outbreak beyond April 14, saying it was essential to save lives.

Mr Sudhakar said the Karnataka government is facing financial challenges because of drastic fall in revenues due to the lockdown, adding, it would take “tough decisions” to cut expenditure.

The Finance Department is in the process of evaluating the state’s fiscal position.

“Finance department is gathering information…what is the need now, what should be the overall expenditure, how much we can save; financial support for unorganised and organised sector, along with stimulus to other sectors, we have to see where we stand financially,” the minister said.

“Based on that, we have to take certain steps for sure because after all the government runs on the exchequer money. Once the exchequer is stopped because of lockdown, we are not getting GST, no motor vehicle tax. No tax money is coming.”

Government also has to run right? he said.

He said commitment and obligations with regard to paying interest on loans taken at the national and international level would have to be met.

“So, there are some financial constraints, and financial challenges before the government. The Government will take tough decisions only after studying the entire finance (position of the State).”

The Telangana government last week announced pay cut for government employees.

The Union Cabinet on Monday approved a 30 per cent cut in salaries of all Members of Parliament and a two-year suspension of the MP Local Area Development (MPLAD) scheme.
