‘Art Insight’: An Art exhibition by professional artists of coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru, Oct 28: ‘Art Insight’, a unique art exhibition by a select group of artists of coastal region, was inaugurated on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 05:00 p.m. by Harikrishna Punaroor, Former President, Kannada Sahitya Parishat at S CUBE Art Gallery, New Chitra Junction.

Vidyadhar V. Nagvekar, Komal’s Food Processors & Caterers, Ar. C. Chethan Kamath, Planz Unlimited Architects, Mangalore and Shashank Shetty, S Cube Group, Mangaluru were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Vasant Kumar Perla, poet, writer and a former Director of All India Radio was also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Harikrishna Punoor appreciated the effort to organize the art exhibition and said that such events will help art to reach more people. Sri Vidyadhar V. Nagvekar and Ar. C. Chethan Kamath expressed their best wishes for the success of the exhibition. The dignitaries also jointly initiated ‘Live Street Art’ panel by painting the first strokes of a wall painting on ‘Gandhi 150’. The wall art is being painted by Prasad Shetty and Yagnesh, two students of Mahalasa Art School under the guidance of their teacher Sri B. P. Mohan Kumar.

‘Art Insight’, art exhibition is being organized under the auspices of Art Kanara Artists’ Group to popularize the art and artists of coastal Karnataka. The exhibition is hosted at S CUBE Art Gallery, New Chitra Junction from October 26 – November 3, 2019. The display will be open to public viewing from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on all days of the exhibition.

A total 18 artists are participating in this exhibition contributing two works each. The participating artists are: B. N. Hariprasad, B. P. Mohan Kumar, Harish Kodialbail, Janardhan Havanje, Jayavanth Manipal, Nemiraj Shetty, Permude Mohan Kumar, Praveen Punchithaya, Rajendra Kedige, Ramakrishna Nayak, Reshma Shetty, Sampath Kumar, Santhosh Andrade, Santhosh Pai, Sharath Palimar, Syed Asif Ali, Venky Palimar and Vishwas M. Bhat.

‘Art Panel’ – Introducing Live Street

A special innovation introduced during the exhibition is ‘Live Street Art’. S CUBE Art Gallery is a dedicating a street facing wall for promoting street art. The 10ftx7ft wall is titled ‘Art Panel’. The first splash of ‘Live Street Art’ was performed by the students of Mahalasa College of Visual Art. In the future, artists may use this space for live street art for delivering social messages, creating awareness etc.

About the Exhibition:

‘Kanara’, the culturally significant region comprising entire coastal Karnataka, has a thriving art movement of its own. ‘Art Kanara’ showcases the notable works of a select group of contemporary artists of Mangalore. Each of them is an accomplished master, having found his voice and evolved his own unique style; together they represent a spectrum of coastal talent, displaying their personal mode of expression, themes and influences.

The objective of this exhibition is to give exposure to the artists of the coastal Karnataka in promote awareness and appreciation. It is hoped that events like these will pave the way for improving the profile of our artists and enable them to gain national and international recognition.

Bengaluru, Jul 5: Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore Bernard Moras has been diagnosed with mild symptoms of Covid-19 and his condition now is said to be stable.

"Most Reverend Bernard Moras, Archbishop Emeritus of Bangalore, had gone to St. John's Medical College for a routine check-up on July 2 as he was not well. Yesterday (July 3), it was confirmed that he has mild symptoms of Covid-19 and the doctors have stated that his condition at present is stable," Archbishop of Bangalore Peter Machado said in a message.

"We assure our beloved Archbishop Emeritus of the prayers of all the faithful in the Archdiocese and wish him a speedy recovery, he said.

The Archbishop Emeritus is aged about 78.

Mau/ Kalaburagi, Mar 26: Uttar Pradesh Police on Wednesday asked lockdown violators in Mau to do push-ups and squats as a punishment.
In Karnataka's Kalaburagi, police personnel punished the violators of the lockdown.
In his address to the nation on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day lockdown in the entire country effective from midnight to deal with the spread of coronavirus, saying that "social distancing" is the only option to deal with the disease, which spreads rapidly.
According to the Health Ministry, the total number of positive COVID-19 cases in India reached 606, including 43 foreign nationals.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: As many as 12 of the 40 identified people from Karnataka, who attended Tablighi congregation in Nizamuddin, Delhi, have tested negative for COVID-19, state Health Minister B Sriramulu said in a tweet on Wednesday.

It is also learnt that 62 foreigners from Indonesia and Malaysia, who attended the congregation, have visited the State and 12 of them have been quarantined, the tweet said.

''The health department, in association with the Home department, has jointly started the process of identifying all the 300 who attended the event,'' he said.
