Arvind Kejriwal holds first janta darbar after becoming Delhi Chief Minister

Ghaziabad, Feb 19: In his first public interaction after becoming the Delhi chief minister, Arvind Kejriwal today held a janta darbar at party's Kaushambi office in Ghaziabad where he heard greviances of people.

Unlike last time, when the darbar was marred with problems of mismanagement and over-crowding, this time it was a well-organised affair.

"Around 200 people turned up today and Arvind started meeting people at 10 AM in the morning, which ended at around 12.30 PM. After this, he left for the Delhi secretariat. People were allowed inside to meet the Delhi chief minister in a group of 4-5," said a party leader.

This was the first janta darbar after Kejriwal was sworn in on February 14. However, a party functionary termed it as a regular public interaction meeting.

"As a head of the Delhi government, Arvind Kejriwal would be holding Janta Darbar at the AAP's Kaushambi office on every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday- till the time he shifts to his official residence in New Delhi," added the party functionary.

"In order to streamline the public hearing and to address the issues accordingly, a specific day could be earmarked for different kinds of complaints such as Delhi Jal Board (DJB), labour, power and municipal bodies," said a party volunteer, adding that government representatives may also take complaints through SMS or helpline numbers.

During his earlier stint as the chief minister, Kejriwal, had held a similar darbar. However, it was marred by chaos as a large number of people had turned up. The security personnel had to take Kejriwal away from darbar venue.

"In forthcoming public meetings, turnout could be higher as more and more people would be aware about it," said a party volunteer

To avoid mismanagement, a group of party volunteers would be assisting Kejriwal along with Ghaziabad police personnel.

District administration of Ghaziabad has granted permission to hold public meetings and traffic police has already put barricades outside the road of Kejriwal's residence to restrict entry of vehicles. It has also made proper provisions of deployment of security forces including women constables.

Construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will end coronavirus, says BJP leader

Gwalior, Jul 23: As India's daily infections of coronavirus keep rising, the country is fighting a pandemic which is getting bigger by the day.

A vaccine, according to the World Health Organization, may not be coming until early 2021 despite good progress on the font. There is also, so far, no definitive cure for the virus, yet.

Madhya Pradesh Assembly Protem Speaker and Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leader Rameshwar Sharma, however, feels that the end of the coronavirus pandemic will begin with the start of the construction work for Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

"He (Lord Ram) had reincarnated for the welfare of mankind and to kill demons at that time. As soon as the construction of Ram Temple begins the destruction of the COVID pandemic will begin too," said Sharma, reports ANI.

"Not only India, but the entire world is suffering due to coronavirus. We are not only maintaining social distancing but also remembering our holy figures. The Supreme Court has ordered that Ram Temple will be built," he further added.

The treasurer of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirtha Kshetra Trust, Swami Govind Dev Giri had said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Ram Temple on August 5.

He said that social-distancing norms would be ensured at the program, and not more than 200 people will be attending the ceremony.

"The Prime Minister will visit Hanuman Garhi, Ram Lalla Temple, plant a tree and later do the 'bhoomi pujan'," he told ANI.

Ram Mandir trust spokesperson Nritya Gopal Das said five silver bricks will be placed inside the sanctum sanctorum during the ceremony.

The bricks are believed to symbolise five planets as per the Hindu mythology, he said, adding that the design and the architecture of the temple is the same as the one proposed.

According to the trust sources, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat , Maharashtra Chief Minister Udhav Thackeray and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar are also on the list of invitees.

India so far has recorded 1.19 million coronavirus positive cases, and 28,732 deaths.

With highest spike of 8,392 cases, India's COVID-19 tally reaches 1,90,535

New Delhi, Jun 1: India's COVID-19 tally on Monday witnessed its highest-ever spike of 8,392 cases, while 230 more deaths related to the infection were also reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW).

The total number of coronavirus cases in the country now stands at 1,90,535 including 93,322 active cases, 91,819 cured/discharged/migrated and 5,394 deaths.

COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra continue to soar with the number reaching 67,655. Tamil Nadu's coronavirus count stands at 22,333 while cases in Delhi the number has reached 19,844

Cleric issues Ramzan advisory amid lockdown

With the beginning of Ramzan just about 10 days away, Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali, the chairperson of the Islamic Centre of India and the Imam of Aishbagh Eidgah has issued an advisory to people on how to observe Ramzan during the lockdown.

In his appeal, the Sunni cleric, who is a member of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), has urged people that the holy month of Ramzan is likely to begin from April 25. The lockdown may also be extended beyond April 14.

"In this case, it is advised that people observe roza (fast) and do iftar (meal to break the fast) in the evenings at their homes. There should be no congregational prayers in the mosque but only at homes. Only those who stay or are staying at a mosque should pray there and that too while maintaining adequate social distance," said Maulana Khalid Rashid Firangi Mahali in a video message.

The cleric, in the 12-point advisory, has asked people to fast as is mandatory in Islam and to pray for the end of the pandemic, during the month of worship.

The advisory says that those who used to arrange for iftar of poor and needy persons at the mosque, should continue to do so this year as well but the food should be distributed to the needy.

"Those who conducted Iftar parties in Ramzan should give the money kept for it in charity. Not more than five people should be present at any time at a mosque," the cleric added.

Earlier for April 8 and April 9, both Shia and Sunni clerics had appealed to the people to stay indoors and pray on the occasion of Shab-e-Baraat, respectively. To ensure full compliance of the lockdown, the gates of several graveyards in the city were locked up by the caretakers since traditionally Muslims visit graves of their ancestors on Shab-e-Baraat--the night of Allah's forgiveness, to pray for their ancestors.
