Mangaluru, Oct 8: A video clip showing a police officer attached to the Bantwal rural police station allegedly threatening his neighbours with a weapon before destroying coconut and other plants in their property has gone viral on the social media.threat

The incident reportedly happened last Tuesday in Deppoli, Peraje village in Vitla police limits where Assistant Sub Inspector Rukmaiah Gowda resides. The clips show Mr Gowda waving a machete and destroying crops.

He allegedly assaulted Parameshwara Naik and gram panchayat member Mohini who came to the rescue of Mr. Naik.

The ASI also reportedly destroyed the plants in another neighbour Adam's property. All the three have small parcels of land, about 10 to 15 cents, bordering Mr. Gowda.

Residents also alleged that such behaviour was not new to Mr. Gowda, who had allegedly assaulted another neighbour in June. The Vitla police had not acted on the complaint in this regard, they said.

Following this, Dakshina Kannada District Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase ordered an inquiry by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bantwal.

Mr. Borase said that since the video shows both Mr. Gowda and Mr. Naik holding weapons, there was no clarity. Hence, the inquiry is ordered to ascertain facts. Property dispute between the parties was not new, he added.

If the inquiry finds the police officer being on the wrong side of law, suitable action would be initiated, the SP said.

Strange behavior of some neighbours. My friend is always mentioning that whenever his family members travels to gulf for holiday season, his muslim neighbor destroys their plant without any reason. My friends family always for the sake of relationship avoid asking for it. At the same time their hindu neighbor in right side always keep an eye at their house with a very good intention ;
my muslim friend got high respect on their hindu neighbor.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 1: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the resolution passed by the Kerala Assembly is against the "unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre".

"The resolution passed by Kerala Assembly is against the unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre. It has been noticed by the whole country," Vijayan said.

The Kerala Assembly had on Tuesday passed a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Before the resolution was passed against the Act, Vijayan in a special Assembly session targeted RSS and said that citizenship law is part of an agenda.

"The CAA is part of an agenda. Muslims are being considered as internal enemies by RSS, who is controlling the ruling dispensation at the Centre," he alleged.

The new law grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday while talking about women safety, the Chief Minister said, "Those women, who are traveling face many problems, particularly regarding accommodation. To address this, government will start accommodation facilities in all towns. This project will be implemented with the help of local bodies."

Reacting to the development in the Kerala Assembly, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Assembly has insulted the Constitution and parliament by passing a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"The Constitution has delineated clearly the roles of parliament and state legislatures. When people who have taken an oath of the constitution, destroy it, it is a most irresponsible act. Both the houses of parliament have passed CAA and if a state assembly tries to hijack the Act it is an insult not only of the constitution but the parliament as well," Naqvi told news agency.

Bengaluru, Jul 15: Karnataka Congress Chief D K Shivakumar on Wednesday urged the Ministers in the state to visit Covid-19 designated hospitals and instil confidence among patients, doctors and medical staff there.

Noting that doctors, nurses and others were doing a great job, Shivakumar said the government has to stand with them and instil confidence in them. Speaking to reporters after visiting Victoria hospital, a major dedicated Covid hospital in the city, he said, "All the Ministers have to go to hospitals and instil confidence in the staff, patients.... they have to remove fear and tell them we will have to live with this (virus), and cannot escape from it."

Shivakumar said he believes that by instilling confidence most part of the diseases can be cured. He lauded doctors, paramedical and other staff working at the Hospital for the sake of patients, putting their own life at risk and appreciated facilities provided there.

During the visit, the state Congress President interacted with patients undergoing treatment for Covid-19, also medical staff and doctors. He said at Victoria hospital patients were allowed to use mobile phones, so that they can speak to family members, which has to an extent instilled confidence among them, and the same has to be replicated across the state.

Not wishing to comment on complaints about the quality of facility and PPE kits provided at the hospital, also alleged misappropriation on part of the government in the purchase of equipment for Covid treatment, Shivakumar said, "....let's see that at Vidhana Soudha (seat of state's legislature)." He said, "this is not the time to talk about corruption and other things, this is not the time for it....instilling confidence among patients, doctors and paramedical staff is important now."
