Assess Your Piety before the End of Ramadan

Before the completion of the blessed month, Ramadan, its last few days provide you with an exceptional opportunity to assess and test the quantum of Taqwa and apply its power. Yes, we are talking about that Taqwa which has been nourished with days of fastings and prayers.

This could be one of the most relevant questions to seek for, isn’t it? But to know its answer a parameter is quite essential as the vastness of Taqwa doesn’t permit us to guess and strive vaguely for its assessment. The Quran presents a verse which is quietly justifiable to what we are looking for:

And be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord and to a Paradise as vast as the heavens and the earth, prepared for the God-fearing. (Surah Aal-e-Imran: 133)

Just look at the verse, it speaks of a speedy action. For the assessment of Taqwa it specifies “speed” and “goal”.

The Speed – Why speed is needed? Why can’t a person accomplish the task with his own routine? There can be two justifiable answers; one, by virtue of fastings and prayers the person has succeeded in getting loads of good qualities and the speedy action is just to test how far those qualities are true to their formation. Second, to move from a place, energy is required. If the place happens to be powerful, large amount of energy is needed. You can raise your feet from the ground with ease but the same doesn’t hold good when the ground is sticky. Again, look at the way an object is put into space. To get rid of earth’s gravitational pull, the object needs to escape from earth’s atmosphere with a velocity greater than the gravitational pull that comes around 11 km per second. Any object with less speed will fall back on the ground as we see the stone thrown up falls back.

So you need to be quick else the ground will pull you back. Your ground is quite sticky with its own lavish preferences, unfulfilled dreams and unfinished desires. The Quran clearly states that the under-performance of a person and his idleness is for the same reason:

O Believers! What is amiss with you that when it is said to you: “March forth in the cause of Allah”, you stick heavily to the earth? Do you prefer the worldly life to the Hereafter? (Surah At-Tauba: 38)

The Goal – It’s a pillar that acts as a reference point to gauge the direction and speed, it stimulates a person to motivate himself for the achievement. Here, the lofty goal — “forgiveness of the Lord” and the “paradise” has all the attractions to enhance a person’s motivation and speed to the maximum extent.

The days of Fast and Qiyam must have ensured the required fuel and passion in you to register greater speed and get rid of the worldly pleasure for attaining Allah’s forgiveness and Jannah. Stand up on your toes; just check your amount of fuel and speedometer. Few days left, energize yourself to the maximum as you need to maintain that greater-speed for the rest of eleven months to be an epitome of Taqwa.

Bengaluru, Jan 19: The long-awaited discussions on cabinet expansion finally took place between BJP national president Amit Shah and the state party unit on Saturday, but they produced no result.

Latest indications are that new members will be appointed only after CM BS Yediyurappa returns from Davos, Switzerland, on January 25.

The party held a close-door party meeting at a top hotel in Hubballi. The subject of expanding the cabinet, which currently has 16 vacancies, featured in the talks.

Earlier, Yediyurappa reportedly had a one-on-one with Shah during their 45-minute flight from Bengaluru to Hubballi. He is said to have insisted on accommodating all 11 newly MLAs in the cabinet. These legislators were earlier a part of Congress and JD(S); they contested the December byelections on BJP tickets and won.

This apart, BJP sources said, Yediyurappa and Shah had a brief chat at a private event at Palace Grounds . Separately, Shah, who is the Union home minister, held meetings with Jagadish Shettar, Laxman Savadi and Prahlad Joshi, seeking their views on cabinet expansion.

Shah also wanted to get an idea of what people think about the Yediyurappa government’s performance.

Newly elected MLAs Ramesh Jarkiholi, BC Patil and Srimanth Patil greeted Shah. “We only met him to wish him; we didn’t discuss the cabinet issue. That’s something state BJP members will do,” said Hirekerur legislator BC Patil.

Saturday’s deliberations fail to break the stalemate over the cabinet appointments. There are clear differences in the camp about whether all Congress-JD(S) defectors should be made cabinet members, according to a senior minister attended one such meeting.

Shah reportedly wants only seven to eight newly elected MLAs to be made ministers; the rest of the spots should go to BJP loyalists. Yediyurappa disagrees with this position as he had promised all 13 turncoats places in the cabinet. Two lost in the bypolls.

Shah has now asked Yediyurappa to visit Delhi after returning from Davos to finalise the composition of the cabinet, according to the sources.

Yediyurappa will leave for Davos early on Sunday, while Shah will fly directly to Delhi from Hubballi.

Tirupati, Jul 5: The Karnataka government will soon build a massive pilgrim amenities complex and marriage hall at Tirumala, the hill abode of Lord Venkateswara, at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, a temple official said here on Saturday.

The state would soon submit a blueprint for the construction of the Rs 200 crore mega complexes to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that governs the hill shrine, the official said.

Consequently, based on the designs, TTD would construct the complexes with the given fund and after completion, they would be handed over to the Karnataka government, he said.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa would lay the foundation stone for the mammoth complexes on the hills some time next month, he said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to take part in the programme, he added.

Keep aside all these type of extra expenditure like spending for statues, monuments, pilgrim amnesties etc.

During this period of virus pandamic, please use all these amount for medicines, medical facilities, food and development of the state.  We are facing shortage of medical facilites and the people are dying on the road by not getting a bed in the hospital.  Please use these amounts for the same.  During this Pandemic not even hindu brothers also accept this offer.  Leave all vote politics and concentrate to develop the state.
