Association distributes uniform among govt. school students

Mangalore, June 22: Five hundred and thirty-two children of a government school received uniforms at a function as part of the charity programme of a local association at Bengre Kasba, here on Friday.

All the beneficiaries were students of Government Higher Primary School, Bengre.

The uniforms were distributed by Al Madrasathul Deeniya Association, Bengre Kasba.

Head teacher of the school Juliet B Pinto, who was the chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the philanthropic gesture of the Association.

She also explained about the inevitability of educational upliftment of poor people for the development the country.

Bengre Mohiyuddin Jumma Masjid president BJM Salih presided over the programme.

Udupi, Jun 30: The novel coronavirus has claimed another life in the coastal district. The throat swabs of a 48-year-old man who breathed his last two days ago tested positive today. 

With this, the covid-19 death toll in the district rose to 3.

The man, who was a native of Kalthodu in Byndoor, had returned from Mumbai on June 2. He breathed his last on June 28 at his residence. 

The deceased’s swabs were collected on the same day. The report came today. He was reportedly suffering from some illnesses.

The funeral of the deceased was held as per protocol. The swab samples of primary contacts of the deceased were also taken.

Mudigre, May 23: The throat swab sample of a Primary Health Care doctor at Mudigere in Chikkamagaluru district tested negative for COVID-19. 

It was wrongly tested positive for COVID-19 on May 19, clarified DC Dr Bagadi Gautham. 

The doctor's throat swab was tested again in Shivamogga and Hassan labs where it has tested negative. He will be discharged from hospital, said the DC.

All the 28 contacts of the doctor too tested negative. 

A total of 485 primary contacts and 961 secondary contacts of the doctor were quarantined after the throat swab of the doctor was tested positive. All the contacts who have been quarantined will be sent back home from quarantine centres, added DC.

Udupi, Apr 29: Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on Wednesday said that though the district was in the green zone in connection with COVID-19, there would not be any further relaxations and the lockdown would continue till May 3.

According to a statement, he said that no fresh Covid-19 cases have been reported for the past month. However, the district is not immune to the threat of the infection. Thus, the lockdown would continue till May 3 with minimum relaxation.

The district has already initiated relaxations and mandatory guidelines have to be implemented, he further said.
