Attempts to hoist separate statehood flag during Rajyotsava foiled

Kalaburagi , Nov 1: Attempt to hoist a separate statehood flag of Kalyan Karnataka by members various organisations to boycott Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations was foiled by police here city on Friday.

Members of the Hyderabad Karnataka Pratyeka Kalyan Karnataka Rajya Horata Samiti president M S Patail Naribol and a few others, who tried to break the police cordon at Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel Chowk, were stopped and prevented from hoisting the flags bearing the map of the Kalyan Karnataka region.

Later, they sat on a dharna near S V Chowk and raised slogans against state government for neglecting the region and not properly implementing Article 371 (J).

Two more commit suicide over covid fear

Bengaluru, Jul 22: A 54-year-old man committed suicide at his home, after he learned that he was tested positive for Covid-19, at Devasandra, in Sadashivanagar.

The deceased, Shivamahadeva, ran a cot shop in Yeshwantpur along with his brother. The police said that he was single and was living with his elder brother and his family.

In another incident, a 50-year-old man, committed suicide fearing Covid-19 and the stigma related to the illness.

The deceased has been identified as Nagaraju, a resident of Doddaballapura and a native of Hesaraghatta, and his body was found at the Hesaraghatta lake.

The police said that during the investigation it was found that the neighbours had accused Nagaraju of spreading the infection.

Karnataka CM inaugurates mobile COVID-19 testing booth

Bengaluru, Apr 16: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Thursday inaugurated a mobile Covid-19 testing booth in Bengaluru.

These mobile booths will be used in all wards of Bengaluru to collect samples of those suspected to be infected.

According to information available on the website of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as of Thursday, 4:00 PM, 279 coronavirus cases have been reported from the state, with 80 cured/discharged/migrated and 12 deaths.

India's coronavirus tally is at 12,380 cases, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.
