Dubai, Sept 17: Project Indywood, an ambitious initiative to unite the stakeholders in Indian Film Industry under one roof, has been receiving tremendous support from leading NRI industrialists and business houses in the Middle East.

10 billion US dollar Project Indywood, spearheaded by Hollywood Director Sohan Roy, aims at elevating Indian Film Industry to global standards in the next five years through a consortium of 2000 Indian billionaires and corporates.

Bowled over by the vision of Project Indywood, NRI tycoon Dr. B. R. Shetty has expressed his interest to set up India's top notch multiplex at Udupi, Karnataka, possibly with the first 8K screen of the country.

B. R. Shetty who is the Founder of Abu Dhabi-based NMC Group and Chairman of UAE Exchange announced this in an exclusive interview to Indywood TV, the 24/7 entertainment channel in English under Project indywood with special focus on movie centric programs and shows.

“As part of supporting Project Indywood’s vision to upgrade Indian Film Industry and as a gift to my home town people, I wish to set up a swanky multiplex with state-of-the art facilities at Udupi. Because I want to ensure that people should enjoy my Rs 1000 crore Mahabharata movie and similar projects with utmost perfection and quality” said B. R. Shetty.

Sohan Roy who is also the Founder Director of Project Indywood said that the support of NRI industrialist and visionary B. R. Shetty boosts morale and it will motivate the entire Indywood team to contribute more on uplifting Indian Film Industry. “We are in discussions with top Indian industrialists and business houses in Middle East, India, Singapore and Europe. Many of them have expressed their interest to invest in Indywood consortium,” he said.

'Team B-Human' distributes clothes, footwear among migrant workers

Mangaluru: Continuing the relief work they started in the wake of the Corona Lockdown, ‘Team B-Human’ a local social organization is reaching out to the migrant workers who are stuck here in the region, unable to return to the homes.

Team of volunteers of the organization reached out to the migrant workers and distributed essential items including clothes and footwear of men, women, and kids.

Earlier, the organization had reached out to thousands of migrant workers and needy families and had helped them with food kits, Ramadan Kits along with medical assistance to many.

Several migrant workers recently moved back to their respective states, villages with their families, while others, unable to move back for various reasons are stuck here facing several difficulties and plights. The relief work by ‘Team B Human’ has helped several families of migrant workers in these distressing times.

Bellary, Jan 4: A BJP MLA has apparently threatened 'minority' Muslims against participating in anti-CAA protests, saying that opposing the new Citizenship Act will not be good for them and they will have to face serious repercussions.

"It's just a caution for those who are protesting against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act). We are 80 per cent and you (Muslims) are 18 per cent. Imagine what will happen if we take charge," MLA Somashekar Reddy told a gathering here on Friday.

"Beware of the majority when you live in this country. This is our country. If you want to live here, you will have to, like the Australian Prime Minister said, follow the country's traditions," he added.

He said: "So, I warn you that CAA and NRC are made by Modi and Amith Shah. If you will go against these acts, it won't be good."

Continuing to spew venom, the MLA further said, "If you wish, you can go to Pakistan. We don't have any issues. Intentionally, we would not send you."

He said that the community should live in harmony with Hindus. "If you will act as enemies, we should also react like enemies," he said.

Earlier, Bengaluru BJP MP Tejaswi Surya reportedly called CAA opposers as "puncturewalas".

The nation has been witnessing massive protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). But Prime Minister Narendra Modi has specifically stated that the NRC was never discussed.

Udupi's veteran politician commits suicide

Udupi, Feb 29: Senior Congress leader and Udupi’s crackers trader K Krishnaraja Saralaya allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well outside his house at Paniyadi on Saturday.

He was 87, Krishnaraja was leading a solitary life. It is suspected that he ended his life ''due to mental agony''.

He is survived by two daughters. One is settled in Australia another is in Bengaluru. Saralaya had also served as President of Udupi Town Co-operative Society. The police visited the spot .
