Mangluru, Dec 6: In order to prevent untoward incidents in Mangaluru city and other parts of Dakshina Kannada, the district administration has placed restrictions on religious, political and social gatherings 18 hours from 6am on Wednesday.
The ban orders come in wake of any attempt to celebrate December 6 either as a black day or Vijayotsava to mark the demolition of the historic Babri Masjid.
The curbs have been ordered under Section 35 of the Karnataka Police Act and bars open meetings, processions, jathas, dharnas, protests, rasta-rokos and any attempts to lay siege to government or other private properties.
Mangaluru City Police chief Suresh and DK district police chief C H Sudheer Kumar Reddy said police force of the two units have been kept in full readiness to deal with any attempts to vitiate law and order situation in the district on account of celebration or protest.
