Bahrain: GSS holds drawing contest for children

Bahrain: Guru Seva Samithi – Bahrain Billawas, an organization of NRI Billawas, organized a drawing competition for children on December 22 at Kannada Sangha Hall, Manama. 

The response was overwhelming and number of children participated in the event which was held for 3 to 16 years in 5 age groups.

GSS President Mr. Ajith Bangera welcomed the parents and addressed the gathering. The judges for this event were Mr. Deepak Rao Pejawara, well known Yakshgana Guru & Mrs. Kavitha Sampath, Architect. Prizes were distributed by Kannada Sangha Bahrain Vice President Mr. D. Ramesh, Bunts Bahrain President Mr. Nagesh Shetty, Mr. Deepak Rao, GSS President Mr. Ajith Bangera and GSS Ex. President Mr. Raghu Poojary. Mementos were given by GSS President to judges as a token of appreciation.

Entertainment Secretary Mr. Pradeep Sudekar hosted the event and thanked the participants and supporters.

Dubai, Apr 23: UAE announced on Thursday 4 deaths, 518 new coronavirus cases and 91 recoveries.

According to the Ministry of Health and Prevention, an additional 29,000 COVID-19 tests were performed, which revealed 518 new positive cases, bringing the total number of cases to 8,756. The new patients identified are in a stable condition and undergoing treatment, according to the ministry.

Also, @mohapuae announced that four Asian expats who tested positive for COVID-19 died due to complications. This brings the total death toll to 56. The Ministry of Health and Prevention expressed sincere condolences to the families of the deceased.

Apr 12: Parents in Abu Dhabi affected by the Covid-19 situation can seek help from the authorities in paying off their children's school fees, it was announced on Sunday.

The Abu Dhabi Media Office took to Twitter to announce the reprieve. The Authority for Social Contribution - Ma'an and Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) "will support parents with children attending private schools in #AbuDhabi who are affected by the current economic challenges, by paying school fees or providing devices for distance learning".

The move is part of the 'Together We Are Good' programme which aims to support residents impacted by the Covid-19 coronavirus crisis in the country.

"Parents can call the toll-free helpline on 800-3088 or register their request at http://togetherwearegood.ae. The closing date for fee assistance applications is 23rd April 2020," the media office tweeted.
