Baliga murder: Photographer Manujanth arrested for harbouring NaMo Naresh

Mangaluru, May 29: The Manglauru police have arrested another accused in connection with the cold blooded murder of an RTI activist, who had taken on a temple and builders. This is the fifth arrest in connection with the case.

1manjunath K Manujanth Shenoy, alias Manju Neereshwalya, (39) was arrested on Sunday on the charge of harbouring Naresh Shenoy, the prime accused in the same case. He is photographer by profession.

Naresh Shenoy, the founder of local unit of NaMo Brigade, has been absconding since the murder of 51-year-old RTI activist Vinayak Baliga.

In a press note, the police said that Manju Neereshwalya was in constant touch with Naresh Shenoy, whom the police wanted to question in connection with the murder.

The police said that Manju Neereshwalya was informing Naresh Shenoy of the developments in the case and helping him hide.

Vinayak Baliga was hacked to death near his house in Kodialbail on March 21. The police have arrested Vineet Poojary, Nishit Devadiga, Shiva, alias Shivaprasad, and Shailesh (40).

The police said that they are still looking for Naresh Shenoy.

17 new corona cases in Karnataka, 65-yr-old patient dies in Chikkaballapur

Bengaluru, Apr 15: As many as 17 new positive cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Karnataka, taking the total number of cases in the state to 277, including 75 discharged and 11 deaths, the state government said on Wednesday.

Of the 17 new cases, nine are workers of a pharmaceutical company in Mysuru, the government stated.

Meanwhile, a 65-year-old from Chikkaballapur, who had tested positive for COVID-19, lost his life on Wednesday.

"He was referred to a Bengaluru hospital with complaints of H1N1 positive, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with obstructive sleep apnea and a past history of diabetes and hypertension," the government stated.

Bengaluru, Apr 18: State Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai has stated that there is no need for Dubai Kannadigas to be worried during the COVID-19 crisis.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, he said that the State government is with the Dubai Kannadigas and their families residing here in the State, promising that they will not face any problems.

Bommai also sought the cooperation of all Dubai-based Kannadiga industrialists and employees in the fight against the virus.

Karnataka: Muslim youth set to become seer at Muruga Rajendra Mutt

Gadag, Feb 20: A 33-year-old Muslim man is all set to become a seer at Muruga Rajendra Mutt in Gadag.

Ordained by Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami of the mutt, Dewan Sharief Mullah claims he was taking the step not under any duress but after being "guided by the almighty".

"Nobody asked me to do it. The almighty came in my mind and guided me.... They have put the sacred thread and given me the responsibility. They have given me the 'Ishta-linga' and this honour. I have done the 'Ishta-linga dharan'. I will walk on the path of dharma. Love and sacrifice is the message given to me. That is what I want to propagate," he said.

Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami said, "It does not matter what caste you belong to. If God appears to you for a path of goodwill and sacrifice, you will do it regardless of the manmade restrictions of birth and caste."
