Bangladesh cancels downlink permission of Peace TV

July 11, 2016

Dhaka, Jul 11: Bangladesh today scrapped the downlink permission for 'Peace TV' of Indian Islamic preacher Dr Zakir Naik, a day after it banned the channel following bizarre allegations that his speeches inspired some of the militants who carried out the country's worst terror attack at a cafe here.Peace-TVFinal

The Information Ministry issued the order to cancel the Peace TV's downlink permission needed to broadcast in the country.

"Based on the Cabinet committee's decision, free-to-air TV channel Peace TV's downlink permission has been cancelled for violating downlink conditions," the ministry said in the directive.

A spokesman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Commission (BTRC) said, "Its (Peace TV) downlink permission has been cancelled in line with information ministry's decision."

The action came a day after Cabinet Committee on Law and Order during a special meeting yesterday decided to ban the Mumbai-based preacher's channel.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan had earlier said that Bangladesh's intelligence agencies were investigating the 50-year-old Dr Naik's possible role in the cafe attack.

"He is on our security scanner... Our intelligence agencies are investigating his activities as his lectures appeared provocative," Khan had said.

Khan had said the investigators were also probing Dr Naik's financial transactions in Bangladesh.

I think these banagalis not under standing English. If they watch the contents in all the videos it only preaches peace. By banning these channels they are not allowing muslims and non muslims to under stand what is islam. By this there may more misunderstang between the peoples.

Belagavi, Mar 16: Despite issuing an order banning large gathering, including lavish weddings, Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa attended the grand marriage celebrations of the daughter of BJP MLC Mahantesh Kavatagimath in Belagavi on Sunday.

The Chief Minister had advised people to postpone weddings till the COVID-19 scare passed off, or to restrict the number of guests to around 100. But the wedding on the lawns of Shagun gardens in the Udyambag industrial area in Belagavi had many more times the number of visitors.

A police officer on duty at the venue estimated the crowd to be over 3,000.

The large gathering was in clear defiance of the government order and the Chief Minister’s appeal. But Mr. Yediyurappa’s presence seems to have vindicated this act.

Hundreds of cars were parked on both sides of the Khanapur road, outside the venue which was decorated with flowers, buntings, rolls of paper and colourful cloth. Two huge banners about preventing the spread of COVID-19 have been put up at the venue. There are wash basins at two ends and several hand sanitiser counters across the ground.

Apart from Union Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi, and ministers Srimanth Patil and MLA Mahesh Kumthalli, there were several leaders from the BJP, the Congress and the JD(S) who attended the marriage. There were some officers from the city corporation and district administration among the guests.

The Chief Minister arrived around 11 a.m. and stayed for nearly an hour at the venue. He left after wishing the couple and greeting some leaders.

On his arrival, at the Sambra airport, Mr. Yediyurappa said the State was well-equipped to handle the spread of the infection. “Over one lakh have been tested. Among the 100 suspected cases, the virus was detected only in six persons. One person has died. But otherwise the situation is under control. Officers are working round the clock,’’ he said.

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 1: Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the resolution passed by the Kerala Assembly is against the "unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre".

"The resolution passed by Kerala Assembly is against the unconstitutional Act passed by the Centre. It has been noticed by the whole country," Vijayan said.

The Kerala Assembly had on Tuesday passed a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

Before the resolution was passed against the Act, Vijayan in a special Assembly session targeted RSS and said that citizenship law is part of an agenda.

"The CAA is part of an agenda. Muslims are being considered as internal enemies by RSS, who is controlling the ruling dispensation at the Centre," he alleged.

The new law grants citizenship to Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists and Christians fleeing religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh who came to India on or before December 31, 2014.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday while talking about women safety, the Chief Minister said, "Those women, who are traveling face many problems, particularly regarding accommodation. To address this, government will start accommodation facilities in all towns. This project will be implemented with the help of local bodies."

Reacting to the development in the Kerala Assembly, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Assembly has insulted the Constitution and parliament by passing a resolution seeking withdrawal of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"The Constitution has delineated clearly the roles of parliament and state legislatures. When people who have taken an oath of the constitution, destroy it, it is a most irresponsible act. Both the houses of parliament have passed CAA and if a state assembly tries to hijack the Act it is an insult not only of the constitution but the parliament as well," Naqvi told news agency.

Dear scape goat Naqvi, dont try to fool us.   I know you are a liar as you are int he company of liars.  MPs are taking oath to respect and safeguard indian constitution and not to disrespect it and go agaisnt the teachings of constitution.  What Central Govt has done is 100 perent agaisnt the constitution and every citizen has the right to oppose this.   You are definately go with the Govt as you are paid for it.   But dont force other too to follow you.  What Kerala Govt has done is according to will of people and Central Govtr should respect it.
