Bantwal: Gram Panchayat vice president Jaleel hacked to death in broad daylight

Bantwal, Apr 20: A gang of unidentified miscreants hacked a youth to death inside the office of Karopadi Gram Panchayat in Bantwal taluk in broad daylight on Thursday.

mrdr1The victim has been identified as Abdul Jaleel Karopadi (40), the vice-president of Karopadi Gram Panchayat. He is the son of Usman Karopadi, a senior member of Bantwal Taluk Panchayat. The incident took place within a short period after Jaleel entered his office.

According to sources, four masked assailants who came in two motorbikes barged into the Gram Panchayat office and brutally attacked Jaleel with lethal weapons after throwing chilli powder on his face.

The assailants fled the spot when Jaleel collapsed in a pool of blood. A critically injured Jaleel breathed his last while being taken to a hospital at Natekal, sources said.

Police rushed to the murder scene and conducted spot investigation. A case has been registered. The motto behind murder is yet to be known. Investigations are on.

Belthangady, May 15: Carcases of more than 50 monkeys were found at Bandaru gram panchayat in the taluka here on Friday.

The carcasses were found on the Kundalapalke-Padmunja road in Bandar village. Locals had seen the monkeys’ carcasses night of Thursday and informed authorities about it.

Kaniyuru Health Centre’s medical assistant Swatantra Rao and Ujire health Centre’s Medical Officer, Forest Department staff, veterinarians and local Panchayat officials visited the spot.

Mysuru, Mar 24:m who returned from foreign travel and flouted home quarantine guidelines has been arrested in Mysuru on Monday. 

The man, who returned from Australia, had a seal on his hand but was roaming around the city. 

According to police, he was supposed to be under home quarantine till April 6. V V Puram Police took him into custody.

Mysuru, Mar 6: A woman was murdered by her husband in front of her father in the wee hours of Friday at her home in Hosakamanakoppal, Yelwal hobli here, police said on Friday.

The police said the deceased is Mamatha, a native of Periyapatna who was married to Nagesh of Hosakamanakoppal about seven years ago. The couple has a six-year-old son. Mamatha was Nagesh’s second wife as his first wife had allegedly committed suicide.

It is said that Nagesh was addicted to liquor and gambling and used to fight with Mamatha over petty reasons. 

Yesterday night too, there was a fight between the couple and Mamatha’s father pacified both of them and all of them went to sleep later.
