Bantwal, Dec 28: In an apparent bid to disrupt peace in the region, unidentified miscreants pelted stones at a mosque in a communally sensitive village in Bantwal taluk last night.
All the window panes of the mosque located at Veerakambha near Kalladka have been damaged in the attack. The incident came to light when people visited the mosque early on Thursday morning for Fajr prayers.
The managing committee of the mosque and local residents have lodged a complaint with jurisdictional Vittla police station in this regard.
Meanwhile, the cleric of the mosque has urged the local Muslims not to lost patience. “The miscreants wanted to provoke Muslims through this attack. We should thwart their plan by maintaining peace and helping police to nab the real culprits,” he said.
Meanwhile, a car parked in front of a mosque at Golthamajalu village in Bantwal taluk, has been damaged by unidentified miscreants.
Police visited both the spots and assured to nab the culprits. They also urged people to maintain peace and not to pay heed to any rumours.
