Begged for help but Smriti did not stop: Daughter of doctor killed in pile-up

March 7, 2016

New Delhi, Mar 7: Despite Smriti Irani's claims that she had helped the victims of a pile-up at Yamuna Expressway last week, the daughter of a doctor killed in the accident today contradicted the Union minister's version of the story.

smrithi"Smriti Irani's convoy rammed into our car. She came out. I begged her for help but she left," Dr Ramesh Nagar's daughter Sandili said.

Sandili's brother, Abhishek, also backed that allegation. "My sister literally pleaded with folded hands to Smriti Irani for help, but she did not stop," he said.

The statements by the two survivors of the tragedy contradict Irani's claims made through a series of tweets of helping the victims. "Tried to help the injured who were lying on the road for quiet sometime and ensured they reach a hospital. Pray for their safety," she had tweeted late on Saturday night.

"There was a pile up of vehicles due to an accident on the expressway. Unfortunately the police vehicle before mine & my car also crashed," she narrated the incident, assuring her well-wishers that she was unhurt.

"For all enquiring re my accident- I'm fine. Thank you for the concern and wishes," she said.

Irani, along with other Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, was returning to New Delhi from a meeting of the party's youth wing in Uttar Pradesh's Vrindavan town near Mathura.

Almost most of the Sanghi leaders are openly Lying to the PUBLIC without hesitation and YOU expect them to SAVE U ... Its impossible..if they are involved in continues LIES then dont expect them to be saviour of your religion... NOTE this and dont fall trap to their Crocodile cry for religious sentiments... its only FEKU ... There is a evil agenda of Sangha to bring back DEVADASIS and SATI and rule over U.

Mangaluru, May 17: Former health minister U T Khader demanded that the authorities carry out a scientific analysis of the five deaths that occurred due to Covid-19 in Dakshina Kannada.

“The number of fatalities vis-à-vis the number of positive cases in the district is worrying, and the district administration and health department should not take the matter lightly. Lapses, if any, in dealing with the co-morbidity factors should be addressed, lest it become a major health challenge,” he warned.

Addressing reporters on Saturday, Khader, said only carrying out such types of analysis will help the health department combat the spread of the novel coronavirus in the future. “At present, the only data available with the health authorities here and in the state war room, is the number of people tested and number of positive cases,” Khader said.

“Any strategy to combat Covid-19 must be built around scientific analysis of causes of how the disease is spreading and to do so, concrete efforts must be made to find the source of the cluster at the First Neuro Hospital in Padil. A analysis of reasons that caused the deaths, will also come in handy for the authorities to prepare suitable advisories for the people, who in turn could take informed decisions,” Khader noted.

Newsroom, Jan 24: BJP leader and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje has been booked by Kerala police over a misleading and communally provocative social media post.

Karandlaje had tweeted that that Hindus from a colony in Kuttipuram in Malappuram district were denied water supply as they supported the the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"Kerala is taking baby steps to become another Kashmir. Hindus of Kuttipuram Panchayat of Malappuram was denied water supply as they supported #CAA2019. #SevaBharati has been supplying water ever since. Will Lutyens telecast this intolerance of PEACEFULS frm God's Own Country!?," she tweeted.

A case has been booked under section 153(A) of IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race etc). Karandlaje took to Twitter to slam the Kerala government, and said it had lodged a complaint against her instead of acting against the discrimination faced by dalit families of Cherukunnu.

"It is high time the society unites against these pressure tactics of a non-performing, biased left government," she said.

Karandlaje claimed that the CAA had been accepted by both houses of Parliament and people supporting the Act were facing boycott in business and were being denied basic amenities and jobs. "The CPI(M) government is blind to all these incidents across Kerala, but files a case against me for speaking the truth!" she retorted.

According to reportage from multiple outlets, the colony in Malappuram district's Kuttippuram was dependent on a private individual for water; then came accusations that they were denied the water for attending BJP's pro-CAA rally.

A resident of the colony was quoted by a newspaper, “We were denied drinking water because our husbands participated in a meeting organised to gather support for the CAA. Some people told the family that they should not give drinking water to us because CAA is a threat to the people in their community.”

However, the individual in question denied the accusation, claiming a lack of water because of technical issues.

The case was registered after a complaint by lawyer Subhash Chandran, a resident of Malappuram. Aravindan E.A., SI of Kuttippuram police, said, "From a private person's borewell, water was being provided to the people of the colony. This motor had taken for agricultural work and he was recently issued a warning by State Electricity Board. He was told that if he uses the motor for any other purpose, power supply would be disconnected. He then had stopped using the pump following the crisis worsened.”

Bengaluru, Feb 7: Karnataka's Directorate of Health and Family Welfare Services on Thursday issued guidelines for testing, isolation, hospital admission and discharge in view of the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (nCoV) in Wuhan city of China, a virus that has infected nearly 20,000 globally and has killed more than 500 in China.

According to the guidelines, the sample of any passenger, whether symptomatic or asymptomatic, with a history of travel to or residence in Wuhan city of China in the last 14 days, has to be collected and tested.

And the sample of any health personnel, who develops symptoms of the virus after being associated with the infected persons, has to be collected.

The circular further says that the clinical sample of any suspect/probable case of nCoV will be sent to the laboratory confirmation and the case will be kept in isolation. If tested positive, the treatment has to be provided as per the existing guidelines.

The virus originated from Wuhan, a Chinese city, in December and has since then spread to various parts around the world.

China has imposed quarantine and travel restrictions, affecting the movement of 56 million people in more than a dozen cities, amid fears that the transmission rate will accelerate.
