New Delhi, May 25: The Centre on Tuesday allowed seven state capitals, including Bengaluru, to compete for the Smart Cities Mission and announced 13 cities to be developed under the scheme.
Besides Bengaluru, Patna (Bihar), Shimla (Himachal), Naya Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) and Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala) are eligible for competition.
These seven cities were not included in the 100 cities shortlisted for the competition. The next round of competition is expected to take place soon after these cities submit their detailed plan of development of urban cluster.
