Mangaluru, Jan 8: The Bharat Bandh called by Central Trade Unions on Tuesday evoked poor response in Karnataka’s coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts.
Most parts of the cities of Mangaluru and Udupi and other prominent towns in the region looked normal while some people volunteer shut their shops.
The public transports, commercial establishments and other operations which started their business as usual are affected by common man turn out.
Government and private buses and auto-rickshaws were seen working as usual. However, most of the public transports l are running empty, where there are no peak hour rush seen.
The schools and college buses were off the road as most of the schools and colleges in the region prior declared a holiday on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Hotels and other commercial establishments are working as usual too. Police personnel have kept a strict vigilance in sensitive areas in order to avoid any untoward incidence.
