Udupi, Mar 13: Shiroor mutt pontiff Sri Laxmivara Teertha Swami’s decision to contest upcoming Assembly election from Udupi constituency is a political conspiracy, according to BJP leader and former Udupi MLA K Raghupathy Bhat.

Speaking to reporters, here Mr Bhat accused District in-charge Minister Madhwaraj of hatching up a conspiracy against him joining hands with the seer.

“They seer said he would contest from Udupi. But, he is all praise for Congress and Minister Pramod Madhwaraj. This is nothing but a conspiracy,” he said.

The former MLA said that BJP leaders are into convincing the seer, however, after going through a survey, a decision would be taken on the probable candidate. He said he would happily accept the party high command's decision.

Also, he denied that his own party members who are against him contesting the elections have planned and made the seer agree upon contesting. He said there is no such difference within the BJP.

Bhat said the seer, before praising the Congress, should have considered the corruption involving Congress administration in Udupi. The seer is being considered as one of the probable candidates in the list of BJP and there are also possibilities of him being considered for the party's ticket for Udupi constituency.

In Tamilandu the political glitter, spoiled the Kanchi seer, and became a scape goat in the hands of corrupt politics of ruling party. It may be a warning to this seer to think twice. As rightly said, it is not his duty
