Bhuvneshwar Kumar ties the knot with Nupur Nagar

New Delhi, Nov 24: While senior Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan tied the knot with Bollywood actress Sagarika Ghatge earlier in the day, Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar also started new innings on Thursday.

Bhuvneshwar, who was released from the Indian squad for the remainder of Test series against Sri Lanka recently, tied the knot with Nupur Nagar.               

Nupur Nagar is a 26-year-old girl from Ganganagar, Meerut. She is the daughter of a retired police officer, Yashpal Singh Yadav.

She did her schooling at JP Academy in Meerut and then went on to achieve her graduation degree in Engineering from a private college in Noida. Having earned the degree, she now works as an Engineer at an MNC in Greater Noida.

In fact, she and her family have even settled down in Greater Noida from Meerut.

Earlier this year, the Uttar-Pradesh-based cricketer had taken to his Instagram account to share a picture or rather a cropped up photo from a dinner date of his. The caption read, "Dinner date full pic soon."And within moments his social media flooded with comments on the picture.

Islamabad, Jun 23: Seven more Pakistan cricketers, including Muhammad Hafeez and Wahab Riaz, selected for the tour of England have tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total to 10, the PCB revealed on Tuesday.

The seven who tested positive on Tuesday are Kashif Bhatti, Muhammad Hasnain, Fakhar Zaman, Muhammad Rizwan, Imran Khan, Hafeez and Riaz. Shadab Khan, Haider Ali and Haris Rauf had returned positive tests on Monday.

“It is not a great situation to be in and what it shows is these are 10 fit and young athletes...if it can happen to players it can happen to anyone,” Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO, Wasim Khan told a media conference.

He said a support staff member, masseur Malang Ali, had also tested positive for COVID-19.

Khan said that the players and officials would now assemble in Lahore and another round of tests would be carried out on June 25 and a revised squad would be announced the next day.

The squad has to leave on June 28 for the series scheduled to be held next month, he said.

“It is a matter of concern but we shouldn’t panic at this time as we have time on our hands,” Khan said.

He said the players and officials would be retested on reaching England.

Former India opener Kris Srikkanth on Sunday said he would prefer K L Rahul over Shikhar Dhawan in the T20 World Cup later this year.

Dhawan is returning to international cricket after a long gap. During the senior left-handed batsman's absence, Rahul has emerged as one of the top contenders for the opener's slot in limited-overs cricket.

"Runs against SL (Sri Lanka) don't count. If I was chairman of selectors, I won't pick Dhawan in the T20 WC squad. There is no competition between him and Rahul. Only one winner," Srikkanth said on Star Sports.

Before the series, the 34-year-old Dhawan said that he is looking forward to a "new start" in a new year and wants to win the World Cup for India.

New Delhi, Feb 13: Sanjiv Chawla, a key accused in the match-fixing scandal involving former South African cricket team captain Hansie Cronje in 2000, was extradited from the UK on Thursday, Delhi Police said.

The 50-year-old British national, accompanied by a crime branch team from London, reached IGI Airport this morning, a senior officer said.

He is likely to be taken to the crime branch office for questioning, he added.
