BIS students emerge overall champions in skating contest

Mangaluru: Students of Barakah International School displayed skill and talent in the 1st Roll Inter School Skating competition 2018 which was held on 6th and 7th January 2018 in the sports discipline of Roller Skating, which got underway at Francis Doris Skate City, Ashok Nagar, Mangaluru.

BIS students raked laurels at the event which was organized by Hi – Flyers Club, Mangaluru and Francis Doris Skates City.

32 schools from the Mangaluru city had participated in Skating performance held in seven different categories.

The matches were officiated under the guidance of Mrs. Naina Shivraj. All the participants performed exceptionally well and were the recipient of 7 Gold medals, 9 Silver medals and 33 Bronze medals. BIS Team also won “1st Overall Championship” award during the event.

Kalaburagi, Jul 2: Hoteliers in Kalaburagi have claimed that their business is hit due to night curfew timings in the state.

The night curfew in the state has been imposed from 8 pm to 5 am.

Speaking to news agency, Sudarshan, a hotelier said, "Peak business hour is 7-10 pm but now we close by 8 pm. There is almost no business. We are unable to pay our workers. The government should think about it".

"We haven't received any benefit from the government so far. If we are in trouble how will we help our workers? Relaxation should be given," he added.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Tuesday announced a complete lockdown on Sundays till August 2.

So far, Karnataka has reported 15,242 COVID-19 cases, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Mangaluru, May. 21: The Bearys Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI Mangaluru) is held the Eid Kits distribution program on Wednesday, 27th day of Ramadan (20.05.2020) at BCCI office in Kankanady, Mangaluru. 

It distributed around 250 kits including some cash amount to the needy

BCCI president Mr S. M. Rasheed Haji, vice president Mr. Abdul Rauf Puthige, Administrative Secretary Mr. Nissar F. Mohammed, and Executive Members  Mr. Mumtaz Ali B.M., 
Mr. Mohammad Haris,
Mr. Mohammad Sharief, Mr.  Asif Soofikhan were present.

Belagavi, Jan 16: Six Poachers were arrested in two different cases at Gollahalli forest range in Kittur section in the district on Thursday.

The arrested were identified as Bharmesh alias Bharmappa Hanumant Bhajantri, Mallesh Hanumant Bhajantri residents of Budanakatti in Bailahongal Taluk.

Another alleged accused Yuvraj Basappa Bhajantri managed to escape.
