BJP accuses HDK of violating poll code in Nava Bengaluru scheme project allocation

Bengaluru, Apr 29: BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, J Shettar on Sunday alleged that the HD Kumaraswamy cabinet, which passed a resolution on Nava Bengaluru scheme, has allocated the project to Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) without tender.

Alleging huge corruption in awarding grants and works under the Nava Bengaluru scheme, Shettar told ANI: "Kumaraswamy cabinet passed a resolution and handed over the project without tender. Before the election, there was a collection of money from contractors, the project was handed over to those from whom they benefitted."

He also alleged that Kumaraswamy had taken money from contractors in Bengaluru and other districts. "For all this, the project has been handed over to limited contractors through the land army. All this happened through Venkatesh, who is very close to Deve Gowda family," he said.

Shettar and his party have approached the Election Commission to consider the 'awarding of the scheme' as a matter of model code of conduct (MCC) violation, which will be in force till May 23.

Mysuru, Mar 7: Karnataka Minister for Medical Education K Sudhakar on Saturday said that State Government may consider suspending the touch-based Biometric time and Attendance system for its employees in view of the COVID-19 threat.

Speaking to media persons while inspecting the medical infrastructure at KR Hospital here on Saturday, he said that many IT companies have already suspended the Biometric Attendance system in a bid to prevent the spread of the virus. Given the threat perception, the government was also contemplating the same and would consider it. However, he did not specify the date.

With regard to the preparedness to handle the threat, the Minister said the government was extremely cautious since last 20 days and had taken all precautionary measures. “All international passengers at the airport are being screened and so far nearly 1 lakh passengers have been screened and anyone with symptoms will be quarantined for 28 days.’’

Mangaluru, May 24: A 42 –year-old man who was the secondary contact of P 1233 has been tested positive for COVID 19, in Dakshina Kannada on Sunday.

The man is being treated at the designated COVID-19 hospital in Mangaluru. With this, DK has registered a total of 66 positive cases with 34 active cases.

P 1233 was a 30-year-old man who had inter-state travel history from Maharashtra, said DK DC Sindhu B Rupesh.

The news case took the district's covid tally to 66 and 34 of them are active cases.

Bengaluru, Jan 13: A criminal case was registered against two persons for allegedly defaming Chamarajpet MLA BZ Zameer Ahmed Khan by posting defamatory comments against him on Facebook.

Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the MLA's staffer, Mohammed Ayub Pasha, on Friday. The suspects were identified as Sharath ITI and Sri Rushikumar Swamiji, based on the profile names in the Facebook posts.

Case under IT Act

Pasha said he found the defamatory posts against Zameer and the community when he was checking his Facebook account. Chamarajpet police registered a case under the provisions of IPC and IT Act and are tracing the suspects.
