BJP candidate caught on camera asking supporters to indulge in fake voting

Badaun, Apr 20: BJP's Badaun candidate Sanghmitra Maurya was caught on camera encouraging her supporters to indulge in 'fake' voting.

In a video which has gone viral on social media, Maurya is seen addressing party workers at an election meeting and asking them to cast votes of those not present on the polling day.

"Not a single vote should go in vain and if some are absent, then it is common everywhere that fake vote is cast... if you get a chance, do take advantage of it... do not do it, but if you get a chance... try to take the real voters to cast their votes but in case... then something can be done in a hidden manner," she says amidst peals of laughter.

District magistrate Dinesh Kumar Singh, when contacted, said he was not aware of the matter but would look into the claims.

Maurya, daughter of Uttar Pradesh minister Swami Prasad Maurya, had earlier hit the headlines by saying that she would become a goon if anyone tried to bully the people of Badaun.

The Badaun Lok Sabha constituency will vote in the third phase of the general election on April 23.

Bengaluru, Jan 25: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Friday, hit out at JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy, accusing the former Chief Minister of pursuing "vote bank" politics and advised him to move to Pakistan.

"It is better to move to Pakistan...if he shows so much love towards Pakistan, why should he live in India? He should not do dual politics like this. He wants to be fair to Pakistan and also to India," Sriramulu said.

Terming it as "double standards", the Minister said: "From so many years, you have been doing vote bank politics. You have to understand one thing...you are the son of former Prime Minister and also a former Chief Minister. By giving these type of statements, I think it will hurt the citizens of India. If you want to do vote bank politics I must suggest that it is better to leave the country."

His statement comes after Kumaraswamy took a jibe at BJP over its "obsession with Pakistan".

Bengaluru, Feb 17: The Karnataka govt has set up an exclusive helpline 104 'Arogya Sahayavani' for Coronavirus assistance to people with recent travel history to China and other affected countries, a statement said here on Monday.

According to the statement, the Karnataka Department of Family and Welfare set up the exclusive helpline 104, 'Arogya Sahayavani' on Sunday. People, who recently traveled to China and other affected countries and who have developed symptoms of Covid-19 virus are requested to immediately contact 104–Arogya Sahayavani or the health authorities and provide all necessary details in order to take precautionary measures.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the recent novel Coronavirus (COVID 2019) as an International Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

Mangaluru, Feb 20: A wild tusker was spotted in Kukke Subrahmanya town here, in the early hours of Thursday.

Range Forest Officer (RFO), Kukke Subrahmanya Tyagaraj said that it was seen walking from Kashi Kattte in the town to Nuchila around 0530 hours without creating any havoc.

The same elephant was spotted some days ago at Harihara, a small village town near Kukke Subrahmanya.

It has been roaming around in the forests nearby for some time now. So far, it had not caused disturbance to people nor had it damaged any property, Mr. Tyagaraj said.

Kukke Subrahmanya is on the foot of the Western Ghats.
