Mysuru, Jan 7: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) units in Mysuru and Chamarajanagara districts on Monday demanded resignation of BC Development minister Puttaranga Shetty, after his aide was caught with Rs 25 lakh cash moving out of his office in Vidhana Soudha early last week.
The BJP activists in the undivided Mysore District held demonstrations demanding sacking of the minister, the MLA elected from Chamarajanagara, involved in the scam when his aide was caught carrying the cash , by Vidhana Soudha police on Friday in Bengaluru.
BJP leaders from the two districts, also alleged that the state government was involved in deep corruption and the money found with the aide of Mr Shetty was a proof of the ways the JD(S)-Congress government was being run. The protesters also demanded the immediate resignation of the minister.
The BJP will raise a widespread agitation in the two districts until the minister quit his post, a top BJP leader said here today.
