Bengaluru, Oct 14: The state BJP on Friday demanded the dismissal of Urban Development Minister Roshan Baig from the Cabinet for using derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa said Baig had insulted not just the prime minister but 125 crore people of the country and sought a public apology.

A video in which Baig uses the ‘B’ word against Modi went viral on Friday afternoon. Baig is seen addressing a party convention apparently in his constituency a couple of days back.

In his speech, Baig is heard saying that after his demonetisation move, even BJP functionaries were calling Modi “a son of a *****...” He is also heard saying that while Congress is implementing several "pro-people" programmes, “Yeddyurappa during his tenure as chief minister had spent time only looking at Shobha Karandlaje”.

Yeddyurappa said people like Baig should not be allowed to continue in the ministry even for a minute. Yeddyurappa recalled that Baig was dropped from the S M Krishna Cabinet for his “involvement in the fake stamp paper scam”. Baig’s brother was even arrested. The scam was of such a massive magnitude that sale of stamp papers was banned in the state.

“Baig must have suffered losses due to demonetisation and hence, must have vented his anger in public,” he said.

BJP state General Secretary Shobha Karandlaje said Baig's language reflected his culture.

The state Congress, too, condemned Baig's use of profanity. "We will seek an explanation," KPCC working president Dinesh Gundu Rao said.

Later in the day, Baig said he did not know Tamil properly and just quoted what “people and traders were saying after GST and demonetisation”. “I never use such language against our PM. I don’t even use such words against servants... BJP is just trying to target me,” Baig said.
