Bengaluru, Nov 21: Haryana’s senior BJP leader Suraj Pal Amu’s announcement of a bounty of Rs 10 crore for beheading Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has embarrassed the Karnataka unit of saffron party.
Deepika is the daughter of badminton icon Prakash Padukone, who lives in Bengaluru. The Congress government in Karnataka has decided to provide police security to Deepika and her family after saffron extremists threatened her for her title role in Bhansali’s film Padmavati.
Meanwhile, the Karnataka BJP tried to distance itself from Amu’s statement. S. Suresh Kumar, the BJP party’s chief spokesperson in Karnataka said that the statement was not the party’s stand and the functionary was not authorised to speak on its behalf. “The statement is the height of idiocy,” he said.
