Belagavi, Jan 26: BJP workers on Friday condemned minister Priyank Kharge for holding a seminar on ‘Conversation of the Constitution’ in Bengaluru on January 22 and 23, during the three-day state mourning announced following the death of Siddaganga seer Shivakumara Swamiji.

Demanding that the chief minister drop Kharge from the cabinet, BJP leaders said the minister was busy in a seminar in a luxurious hotel when the entire state was mourning. “He even neglected his own government’s order on the three-day mourning,” they alleged.

“Kharge had organized the programme by inviting student leader Kanhaiya Kumar, who often speaks anti-national words. By sharing the dais with such tainted persons, Kharge has proved that his party always protects anti-nationals. He should apologize and resign as a minister owing moral responsibility. Congressmen do not know morality and that is why they are often committing such errors. Kharge’s initiative is great insult to the see,” they said.

They said Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy must immediately drop Kharge from the cabinet. “If it’s not done, we will intensify our stir in coming days,” they added.

BJP corporator Deepak Jamkhandi party leaders like Kiran Jadhav, Leena Topannavar, Savita Guddakaya and others were present.

New Delhi, Feb 3: BJP MP Anantkumar Hegde's swipe at Mahatma Gandhi has irked the top party leadership and he may be forced to apologise, party sources said on Monday.

A senior BJP leader said the Karnataka leader's comments were "condemnable" and the party leadership is upset with him.

"The party has conveyed its displeasure to him and asked him to take remedial measure. Any insult to Mahatma Gandhi is unacceptable," he said.

Hegde, a former Union minister, reportedly claimed at an event in Bangaluru that the entire freedom movement was staged with the consent and support of the British, and the independence movement led by Gandhi was a "drama".

He also wondered why the Father of the Nation was called 'Mahatma' (a great soul).

The party leader said the Lok Sabha MP is a "disciplined" member of the party and will do what he has been asked to.

Hegde, known for hardline Hindutva leanings, has a history of making controversial remarks.

This man and some others like him have reached the peak of their madness.

They will not change their attitude, as they know that nobody can do any harm to them.

Therefore they will listen only to dire action what they deserve per the penal code. If required put him behind bars.

Dont harm them more, see their families.

Mangaluru, Mar 27: In the wake of coronavirus, the Council of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has taken steps to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the city as a task force has been formed to monitor home delivery of essentials and the situation prevailing in the city due to outbreak of the virus.

MCC commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde held a meeting of wholesalers to plan the smooth supply of essentials to the people on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, the wholesalers of the city have been directed to supply essential goods to apartments in the city. Each apartment should prepare purchase details and must hand it over to the wholesalers. This way residents will not have to go out to buy essentials.
