New Delhi Jan 5: A group of Bharatiya Janata Party MPs from Karnataka staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on the Parliament premises here on Thursday, demanding a probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) into the murder of Deepak Rao.
The protesters claimed that some Pakistan-funded organisations were behind the killing of members of the BJP and its affiliated organisations.
BJP MPs also met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and demanded the NIA probe into the incident.
32-year-old Deepak Rao was hacked to death by a gang of miscreants at on January 3 at Katipalla in Mangaluru taluk. Police have arrested six persons in connection with the incident. According to sources some of them are activists of BJP Minority Morcha.
Local Congress MLA Mohiuddin Bava, while announcing Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of the victim from his personal account, expressed suspicion that Deepak might be a victim of a political plot. “A high level probe need into the case,” he said.
