BJP ready to form next govt in Karnataka if coalition govt falls on its own: Yeddyurappa

Bengaluru, Jun 21: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will form the government if the JDS-Congress Coalition government in Karnataka headed by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy falls on its own, Opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly B S Yeddyurappa, who is also BJP State President, said here today.

Strongly reacting to the statement of the former Prime Minister and JDS National President H D Devegowda that state may face mid-term election, the BJP leader retorted that “There will be no mid-term election as BJP which is the single largest party in the Assembly will stake claim to form the next government”.

Opining that the Congress and the JDS leaders are trying to create confusion on the issue, he said that “The BJP will not allow to dissolve the house and make all efforts to form an alternate government in the event of the collapse of the Coalition government".

Mangaluru, May 13: Dakshina Kannada today recorded its fourth death due to novel coronavirus.

The victim, identified by number P-536, is a 58-year-old woman from Boloor area of Manglauru. She was tested covid-19 positive on April 30. 

A patient with TB meningitis, the woman had been treated and discharged from Mangaluru’s First Neuro Hospital, which has emerged as covid-19 hub of coastal Karnataka.

In hospital she had reportedly come in contact with patient No 501 who worked as a sweeper in the same hospital. 

With this death, the number of active covid-19 cases reduced to 16 in Dakshina Kannada. The district has so far reported 34 covid-19 cases including four deaths. 14 have been discharged.

Bantwal, Jul 24: Former Union Minister B Janardhan Poojary on Friday said that people need to shed all their misconception regarding COVID-19 and stop taking it so lightly as it is not just any normal disease.

The 83-year-old politician who was tested positive for covid-19, was recently discharged from hospital after recovering completely.

Giving a word of caution, he said, “Earlier also there have been several diseases like Covid-19 and it has been eradicated. Even covid-19 will be eradicated. So, people should not get scared of the disease instead must fight with it”

“Also, covid-19 patients must not be treated like untouchables as those with symptoms may also not mention it due to the fear of being treated badly,” he added.

Udupi, Mar 6: District Health Officer Sudheer Chandra said that health department had compiled a list of foreigners visiting the Temple town Udupi and ensure that they are not infected with Coronavirus.

Addressing media persons at District Government Hospital in Ajjarkad on Friday, he said the Isolation Unit set up with five beds to treat the new Coronavirus infection includes two beds with Ventilator facility. Isolation wards with three beds were set up in Kundapur and Karkala taluks to treat the affected.

In order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, Committees were formed at District and Taluk level, he added.
