BJP supremo Amit Shah to visit Mangaluru on Oct 4

Mangaluru, Sept 26: Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah will hold a meeting of party senior leaders in Mangaluru on October 4.

The coastal city has become a political hotbed with the recent communal incidents.

According to sources, Mr. Shah will review the progress of various organisational programmes suggested by him during his last visit to the State in August.

The meeting is being held in Mangaluru as Mr. Shah will be touring Kerala from the next day, a senior party leader said.

All top leaders of the party State unit, including members of the core committee and office-bearers, are expected to take part in the meeting.

JNU is full of traitors, says Kalladka Bhat

Tumakuru, Jan 8: RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat stoked controversy on Wednesday by stating that 'Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is full of traitors'.

He was addressing the media after taking part in a pro-CAA rally organised by National Citizens Forum near the office of the deputy commissioner of the district here.

Bhat said, “JNU is full of traitors. Congress and communist parties have been generating anti-nationals there. But there is no need to close the university down. Modi government will handle it.”

“Nationalism should be infused among the students there through love and trust. They should be made to realize what the truth is,” he said.

Karnataka records 3,693 fresh COVID-19 cases

Bengaluru, Jul 17: A total of 3,693 new COVID-19 positive cases and 115 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Friday, said the state health department.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the state is presently at 55,115, including 33,205 active cases. While there are 20,757 recoveries, the death toll stands at 1,147.

With the highest single-day spike of 34,956 cases and 687 deaths, India's COVID-19 positive cases crossed the 10 lakh mark on Friday, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total positive cases stand at 10,03,832 including 3,42,473 active cases, 6,35,757 cured/discharged/migrated and 25,602 deaths, according to the ministry.

HDK hits out at BSY govt over anniversary celebration amidst people's suffering

Bengaluru, Jul 27: Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Monday took strong exception to the BJP's celebration over completing one year in office and alleged that people are suffering due to anti-people policies of the state government.

In a tweet on Monday, he said that since the last six months pension due to physically challenged, old age and Widow pensions were not paid. He urged the Government Issue emerge order to release pension amounts immediately. It was shameful on the part of the Government to keep the pension amount being kept pending.

This government has no eyes and ears and claiming only challenging years and transparent government, what examples required for them, he questioned.
