Shivamogga, Nov 12: BJP’s chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa, who cast his vote in Shikaripura in Karnataka assembly polls on Saturday, exuded confidence that his party will gain an absolute majority

Speaking to media persons, the former chief minister also declared that he will take the oath and form the government on May 17.

“I am going to win with a 50,000 margin. The entire state is supporting BJP. We will win a minimum of 145 to 150 seats. I will meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah on May 15 evening and invite them to the swearing ceremony, which might be held most probably on May 17 evening or afternoon,” he said.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, wasn’t the least bit pleased when his reaction was sought for Yeddyurappa’s claims. “Yeddyurappa is mentally disturbed. Congress party will get more than 120 seats. I am fully confident,” he added.

BJP will get more 200 votes and Yediyurappa will be next CM.  This is already finalised and Yediyurappa has been told this by one Mawlwi who was asked by him to do some black magic at his home.    Yediyurappa should  camp in Bangalore and do the preparation for oath taking ceremony.    Yediyurappa is the beloved leader of Karnata people as he did lots of good things to people while he was CM.   He was sent to jail due to wrong allegation though he was innocent.    He is very pious and religious person and always thinks for good things to people.    He respects people from all religions and hence people for all religion respect and love him.   Karnataka will be number one state in India if Yediyurappa comes to power.    Only he can solve Kaveri + Mhadevi + Belgaum + Kasargod issues.

Bengaluru, Feb 7: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) ordered the destruction of a tilted building in the city after evacuating about 150 people from 35 families in the vicinity, an official said on Thursday.

"The top portion of the building has been destroyed 70 per cent today (Thursday). Later, the destruction contractor will allow machines to be used," Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Yelahanka joint commissioner Ashok said.

Located on Vinayaknagar Street in Hebbal's Kempapura, the five-storey building being used as a hostel for boys got tilted on Wednesday morning, spreading panic in the neighbourhood.

Though the tilted building owned by one Rahul, a jeweller, was a sound structure, Ashok said a neighbour, Babu, hired a JCB excavator to dig deep beside the affected structure to build his own structure.

"Babu not only dug very deep but also damaged the foundation pillar of the tilted building, weakening the structure and leading to its slant," said Ashok.

Babu has been booked and arrested even as the police are on the look-out for the JCB owner and operator.

The titled building erected five floors unauthorisedly and falls into the B Khata category. It was constructed without the civic body's plan, said Ashok.

A Khata and B Khata denote the two types of khatas that exist under BBMP. Khata is a document which shows a property owner having an account with the municipality to pay taxes. An A Khata denotes that the building owner has paid relevant property taxes and that the building conforms to building bylaws and government rules. A B Khata denotes that the building is in violation of government regulations regarding properties in Bengaluru, even when the civic charges for the property have been cleared by the owner.

"As per procedure, we issue notice, but such constructions are rampant in the city. Under the BBMP jurisdiction, there are 15 lakh B Khata structures," said Ashok.

For all B Khata sites, the civic body does not give any plan and there is no proper control on them, he said.

Ashok said the case to regularise the B Khata buildings to A Khata buildings is currently pending in the Supreme Court.

Luckily, no injury or loss of life has been reported from the tilted building.

The civic body arranged alternative accommodation for the affected families, but most of them chose to stay with their relatives, said Ashok.

Bengaluru, May 28: A thousand government schools in Karnataka are set to get Englishmedium sections from this academic year (2020-21). These institutions will function in both English and Kannada medium.

The decision was taken by primary and secondary education minister S Suresh Kumar and officials of the education department at a meeting on Wednesday.

Suresh Kumar said dualmedium will help improve the standard of schools and enable their development. The poorest of the poor spend almost 40% of their income on their children’s education in private schools. With the introduction of dual-medium, the government hopes such families will be able to save their earnings, he said. These schools will impart lessons in both English and Kannada. They will also provide textbooks in both languages.

‘Kannada must for all’

The meeting reviewed implementation of the compulsory Kannada Language Learning Act, 2015. Officials from the Kannada Development Authority were present at the meeting who claimed that some private schools have failed to implement the Act properly.

“Action will be taken against such institutions. Every child studying in schools across the state must learn Kannada,” Kumar said at the meeting.
