Bengaluru, Nov 2: Thousands of vehicles were stranded on Tumakuru Road due to the BJP’s ‘Nava Karnataka Parivarthana Yatra” whic began from BIEC at Madavara here on Thursday.

Two ambulances were stuck for over half an hour in the jam, even as the city traffic police were struggling hard to manage the traffic on the busy Tumakuru-Nelamangala highway.

Ironically, BJP’s national president Amit Shah also experienced the affects of the traffic jam first-hand. He waited for over an hour at the HAL Airport for the convoy to ferry him to the venue. However, the convoy was stuck in the traffic jam.

Eventually, Mr. Shah had to take a helicopter to reach the venue to flag off the bike rally that was organised as part of the programme.

Over three lakh bikers are expected to take part in the rally. A huge group of bikers from Mysuru were led by MP Pratap Simha, while another rally is being led by C.P. Yogeshwar from Channapatna.

During 75-day long Yatra, BJP’s top leaders, including State president B.S. Yeddyurappa, would tour all the 224 Assembly constituencies. Party leaders are scheduled to visit three Assembly constituencies every day and hold public meetings in each of them.
