Berne, Dec 3: Switzerland has agreed to share details of two companies and three individuals who are facing multiple probes in India.

Separate gazette notifications of the Swiss government say the country’s federal tax department has agreed to provide “administrative assistance” to India on requests made about Geodesic Ltd. and Aadhi Enterprises Private Ltd.

Similar requests have also been accepted for three individuals associated with Geodesic Ltd. — Pankajkumar Onkar Srivastava, Prashant Sharad Mulekar and Kiran Kulkarni.

Geodesic Ltd was a listed entity and has already faced the wrath of capital markets regulator Sebi for multiple violations. Aadhi Enterprises is said to have links with politicians in Tamil Nadu.

While the Swiss government did not disclose specific details related to the information and assistance sought by the Indian authorities, such ‘administrative assistance’ usually follows submission of proof about financial and tax-related wrongdoings and typically involves sharing of information related to bank account details and other financial data. The companies and individuals can file an appeal against the decision of Switzerland’s Federal Tax Administration (FTA).

The two companies and three individuals did not respond to requests for comments.

The 1982-incorporated Geodesic, once known as a fast-growing company with cutting-edge technology solutions, does not have a functional website any more and is also no longer a listed entity as trading in its shares has been suspended by stock exchanges for “procedural reasons”.

Aadhi Enterprises Pvt Ltd, which was incorporated in Chennai in November 2014, is said to have seen a rapid growth in real estate and other businesses, but soon landed in trouble due to alleged links to tainted politicians and for allegedly indulging in money laundering.

According to reports, the Income Tax Department has conducted multiple raids on properties of the company’s promoters.

Paris, Jun 28: More than 10 million cases of the new coronavirus have been officially declared around the world, half of them in Europe and the United States, according to an AFP tally on Sunday based on official sources.

At least 10,003,942 infections, including 498,779 deaths, have been registered globally.

Europe remains the hardest hit continent with 2,637,546 cases including 195,975 fatalities, while the United States has 2,510,323 infections including 125,539 deaths.

The rate of infections worldwide continues to rise, with one million new cases recorded in just six days.

The tallies, using data collected by AFP from national authorities and information from the World Health Organization (WHO), probably reflect only a fraction of the actual number of infections.

Many countries are testing only symptomatic or the most serious cases and some do not have the capacity to carry out widescale testing.
