From Rajasthan, this is the first case reported of Blue Whale Challenge, which has been in news for making teenagers indulge in self-harming acts and subsequently taking their own lives. As per the sources, a 17-year-old girl studying in class 10th was rescued by Jodhpur police after she tried to jump into a lake as a part of the ugly challenge, a lethal online game which has claimed several lives across the world.

The girl, daughter of a BSF officer, had left home on Monday night on the pretext of going to market. When she did not return, her parents panicked started looking for her. "Her parents came to the police station and lodged a complaint of her missing. Meanwhile, we got to know that she was spotted near Kaylana lake in the outskirts of Jodhpur. The divers present near the lake saw her crying and rescued her from jumping in the lake." SHO, Mukta Pareek at Mandore Police Station said.

According to the police, the girl has downloaded Blue Whale Challenge in her mobile since last few days. The girl failed to complete the game and was fearing that her mother will die as the game administrators had threatened her. The local worker Om Prakash who was at the lake stopped her from jumping and also informed the police. "The local divers told us that girl reached the spot into tears and was about to jump but when regular divers asked her whereabouts she told them about her failure in the game. They with no time rescued her and informed the police station," Mukta added.

This is the latest case reported in the country in connection with online Blue Whale Challenge. The challenge that originated in Russia is spread over 50 days and requires the participants to complete 50 tasks. Over one hundred deaths linked to it have been claimed in last two months. Initially, the participants are asked to complete tasks like watching a horror movie alone, carving the shape of a whale onto their body and ultimately the last challenge is to commit suicide.
