Police are carrying out raids and search for weapons in sensitive areas of the district in the wake of fresh spate of bloodshed in the region. RSS, BJP, CPI(M), IUML and other parties have been accused of indulging in violence in Kannur.

“Since tension prevails in the district, we were on our regular rounds. It was near the BJP office a group was carrying these dangerous weapons,” said Chakkarakkal Sub Inspector Biju P.

He said that police manage to nab one of the accused while some others, said to be activists of Sangh Parivar escaped. The arrested has been identified as Mahesh.

“There were around 10 people in the group. We could identify the faces of three of them and they will be arrested soon,” he added.

Naren mama, Sangh can't be destroyed. because no one is interested to destroy it. after all sanghis are also going to apologize to the nation one day. But currently your sangh has decided to destroy the nation. We will not allow for that. Ur ultimate aim is bringing BJP to power and making india a Hindutva country. but the aim of common man of India is peace and co-existence. (Plz dont translate peace into arabic :p)

For peace loving Indians account this group is terroriit. Worst than ISIS

Bengaluru, Jan 23: City civic body Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) levied a penalty of Rs 50,000 on the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) for using single-use plastic cups during the recent India-Australia one-day international match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

"Despite many awareness meetings, BBMP has found that single-use plastic cups were used during yesterday's cricket match and has fined KSCA Rs 50,000 as penalty," tweeted the civic body commissioner BH Anil Kumar.

The state cricket association treasurer Vinaya Mruthyunjaya said the civic body gave a general notice without detailed information on plastic use.

"We have been environmentally friendly for the last many years and at all gates, security has made sure no plastic or flex was allowed inside the stadium," Mruthyunjaya told media.

Mruthyunjaya said KSCA sought information from the civic body as to where the single-use plastic cups were found in the stadium during the India-Australia match.

On January 16, KSCA president Roger Binny inaugurated a plastic bottle shredder at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in addition to other green initiatives at the cricket ground such as solar panels, sub-air system, biogas unit, rainwater harvesting and others.

Similarly, in December 2019, BBMP cracked down on popular fast food eatery – Adyar Anand Bhavan in HSR Layout and fined the establishment Rs 1 lakh for plastic use.

In October, the BBMP fined eateries including McDonald's in central Bengaluru for using plastic.

Kasaragod, June 2: As Kerala commenced fresh academic year with online classes from Monday, a ninth-standard student at Malappuram district in North Kerala ended life allegedly owing to lack of online study facilities like television connection and a smartphone at her house.

Devika, daughter of Balakrishnan, hailing from a Dalit community at Valancherry, about 25 kilometres from Malappuram town, ended her life.

Balakrishnan told the media that he could not recharge the television connection owing to financial crunches. He was working as a daily wage worker and owing to COVID-19 and lockdown, he was not having much work these days.

The family also did not have a smartphone or computer. The family members alleged that Devika was quite upset as she could not attend the virtual class that began on Monday. She was a student of a nearby government school.

Local police said that Devika, who was the eldest among four children of Balakrishnan, was suspected to have self-immolated using kerosene at a premise close to her house on Monday evening. The cause and provocations were still being probed only. No suicide notes were recovered yet.
