Boy fatally shoots self while on WhatsApp video call with girlfriend

Patna, Jan 30: A youth has allegedly shot himself during a video call with his girlfriend in Patna.

The incident took place on Monday when the 19-year-old youth with a semi-automatic pistol shot himself in the head while chatting with his girlfriend on a video call inside his residence.

Bunty a.k.a. Akash Kumar, who lives in Saichak under Beur police station, was found dead on the bed of his residence with a pistol and magazine kept next to him.

The youth was talking to his girlfriend on WhatsApp and threatening to kill himself when she insisted that he take the bullets out of the pistol.

Not realising that the pistol still had a bullet, he allegedly shot himself accidentally.

According to reports, however, the boy had failed an exam and was being pressured by family members to end his relationship with the girl.

The kin of Akash has lodged an FIR against his girlfriend and her family, accusing them of his death.

The police have begun the investigation into the matter to find whether the death was accidental or a case of suicide.

Mumbai, Feb 11: A 65-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her husband over debt and illness in suburban Powai here, police said on Tuesday.

The incident came to light when Sheela Ajit Lad was found dead by her neighbours at Sukh Shanti Co-operative Society at around 9.30 pm on Monday, an official said.

The victim was allegedly killed by her husband Ajit Lad, who hit her on the head with a heavy object, slit her wrists and strangled her to death, he said.

The accused absconded at around 7.30 pm, leaving a note at the crime scene, saying he was going to commit suicide and had killed his wife because he was heavily in debt and she was suffering from an ailment, the official said.

The childless couple lived alone in the apartment, he added.

"On the basis of the note, we have registered a case of murder against Ajit Lad and have launched a manhunt for him. We have not traced him or found his body as he had mentioned suicide in the note," deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Zone X Ankit Goyal said.

Gonda, Apr 9: A man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room as he was missing his wife stuck at her parents' place due to the lockdown, police said.

The incident took place in Radha Kund locality here on Wednesday, they said, adding the deceased has been identified as Rakesh Soni, 32.

As per information, Soni's wife had gone to her parents' place and was stuck there due to the lockdown and he was missing her due to which he committed suicide, Inspector Alok Rao said.

A probe is on in the mater, he said.

Kochi, Mar 24: A 54-year-old domestic passenger was arrested at the airport here for allegedly refusing to follow instructions given by doctorsfor prevention of the spread of novel coronavirus, police said here on Tuesday.

Lami Arackal from Ernakulam, who landed from Chennai at the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery on Monday night, was arrested based on a complaint from health officials, they said.

He was, however, later released on bail.

Arackal allegedly refused to wear mask and follow other instructions to be observed by the passengers coming from other states as part of the measures to check COVID-19 spread.

He also allegedly misbehaved with the medical officers, police said.
