BSY chants ‘all is well’ mantra amidst reports of dissidence over portfolios

Bengaluru, Aug 27: Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on Tuesday denied rumours of dissatisfaction amidst his ministers over the allocation of portfolios in his newly formed Cabinet.

"There is no difference of opinion at all," Yediyurappa told ANI here after attending the ceremony in which he felicitated the new Karnataka BJP chief Nalin Kumar Kateel.

The Karnataka Chief Minister praised Kateel by calling him a "hardworking" leader under whom BJP will keep growing and said the party machinery was eager to work with him in the coming days.

"He is a hard worker, he has become a member of Lok Sabha for the third time. The entire organisation is with him, we are going to win a minimum of 150 seats in the next Assembly elections under his leadership. We already have 26 MPs," Yediyurappa said.

Some reports in the media had surfaced, suggesting some party leaders were unhappy with Yediyurappa's allocation of portfolios in his Cabinet. 

Earlier today, BJP leader Basavaraj Ingin had said that there was no dissent in the party over the allocation of portfolios in the Yediyurappa Cabinet.

"The Cabinet under the leadership of Yediyurappa has been crafted brilliantly. Any political party has to have forethought of building a party along with the development of the state, there is no dissent," Ingin said.

Mangaluru, July 5: Two children died after getting trapped under the debris of a landslide which occurred at Banglagudde in Kaikamba on the outskirts of Mangaluru today.

The deceased are identified as Safwan (16) and Sahala (10).

The rescue teams including personnel from NDRF, fire service and police brought out the body after four hours of rescue operation.

According to sources, landslides occurred at 12:30 pm and of the five members, three ran out of the house. The two kids got trapped in the debris.

The heavy rain in the last two days has softened the soil of the hillock. An Auto-rickshaw, lorry and a bike too have buried under the soil.

It was said that caving in of the hillock continued even when the rescue operation was in progress, thus making the rescue operation difficult.

District-in-Charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary who visited the spot said two houses have been completely damaged and inmates of 14 houses that are facing the problem in the vicinity will be shifted to safer locations.

Udupi, May 21: In a shocking development, as many as 27 fresh coronavirus positive cases were reported in the coastal district of Udupi today. 

Another shocker is, 16 among 27 covid-19 patients are children. The rest are six men and five women. 

Interestingly, all of them have inter-state travel history. 23 had come from Maharashtra and 3 from Telangana. Another one had come from Kerala to Manipal. More details are awaited.

Bengaluru,  Jul 22: Karnataka Congress president DK Shivakumar on Tuesday said that the state government should give details of the amount it spent on migrants and labourers during the coronavirus crisis if it is transparent.

"The image of Karnataka has come to a very rotten position. We all know that Karnataka has failed in sorting out the problem. Let them (the state government) tell what has been the amount spent on the labour, migrants, food kits on the health department. We want an account (of the expenditure) if they are so transparent," Shivakumar said.

He said that the state government should have approached the hospitals for treating COVID-19 patients and if any hospital refused, a message should have been given that the government would take it over.

He also accused the state government of corruption.
