BSY promises houses for flood-hit families in Uttara Kannada

Bengaluru, Sept 10: Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has assured houses to the flood affected people of Uttara Kannada district.

A delegation led by Uttara Kannada Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ananth Kumar Hegde  met the Chief Minister at his residence and requested him to provide houses to those who had lost them in the recent floods.

“We pleaded with the Chief Minister that records should not come in the way of house allotment to the affected people. Some people have been tilling forest land and do not have proper records, so their pleas must be considered on humanitarian grounds,” Mr Hegde said adding that Mr Yediyurappa had also promised to sanction houses for families from fishermen community who have their dwellings on the banks of rivers.

The Uttara Kannada MP also congratulated the Chief Minister for announcing a Rs 1 crore grant for development of the Halakki community in the district.

Bengaluru, Apr 4: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday asked Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar to be the government's spokesperson on the Novel Coronavirus crisis management effort, a move that is being seen as keeping too many cooks from spoiling the broth.

At a high-level meeting to review measures on COVID-19 containment, Mr Yediyurappa is said to have taken exception to his Cabinet colleagues making multiple, and often contradictory statements, leading to confusion.

''The CM has directed Mr Kumar to be the only one to brief the media on COVID-19,'' a source from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) confirmed.

Bengaluru, May 3: Five more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Karnataka, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 606, the state government said on Sunday.

The total number of cases includes, 25 deaths and 282 discharged.

"Five new COVID-19 positive cases have been reported in Karnataka from 2nd May, 5 pm to 3rd May, 12 noon; taking the total number of positive cases to 606 which includes 25 deaths and 282 discharges," the government stated.

According to the statement, out of the five cases, three have been reported from Kalaburagi and two have been identified from Mudhol.

Mysuru, Mar 3: Three leopard cubs were rescued by a team of Forest Department in Mysuru on Tuesday.

The cubs were found in a sugarcane field and came into notice of a farmer while cutting the sugarcane.

The villagers alerted the forest department which rescued the three cubs.
