Buraidah: Indian Social Forum Karnataka conducts public meet

Buraidah: Indian Social Forum Buraidah Karnataka block organized Public Gathering at the Lies Istirah in Buradah on 11 April 2019 on the topic 'current political scenario of India.'

Indian Social Forum Buraidah Block president Muhammad Saeed chaired the program, the program began with the Qirath by Mr. SulaimanThadur.

Speaking on the occasion, India Fraternity Forum Riyadh, Karnataka Chapter President Mr. Ismail Yusuf said, "Indian Muslims should become politically strong and  empowered, Muslims, Dalithsand other backward communities are being ignored by so called secular parties.

Speaking about Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha, he said even though number of muslims voters are majority in this constituency, they have not provided ticket to Muslim candidate but are only using misusing Muslims and other minorities as their political tools. Further he said it as right time to speak about need of alternative politics to speak on the behalf of the oppressed community.

He described about SDPI candidate in Mangalore Lok Sabha constituency, Ilyas Mohammad who is a leader as well as thinker and writer, he has travelled across India to understand the problems of Poor’s, farmers, minorities, Dalits and other backward sections of the society, he urged gathering to encourage and vote for SDPI in upcoming elections.

Speaking on this occasion Abdul Rauf, Indian Social Forum Riyadh Karnataka State Committee member, said that it is necessary to eliminate evil by fighting against them and establish truth and peace in the society. Since the Muslim community has assumed that politics is not meant for them, we must work with our youth to create political consciousness among the Muslims and explain them the need of politics, he said it becomes our responsibility to elect and send Janab Ilyas Mohammad  from Mangalore to Delhi to speak on behalf of the oppressed and marginalized.

Saeed, President Indian Social Forum Buraidah, presided over the program. He explained about the activities of Indian Social Forum and how it is working hard for the NRI’s since last few years throughout Saudi Arabia and briefly explained the emphasis of organization.

Abdul Rasheed Uchilila, IFF Buraidah-President, Abdul Razzak, President of Adoor Gulf Committee, Abbas Ali Kukkuvalli were present on the dias.

A variety of sports activities were held. In cricket Nazim Buraida were the winners and Unaiza Guys were the runners-up. In tug of war Unaizah Guys were the winners Team najam were the runners-up.

ISF Buridah  General Secretary Ayyub Uppinangady welcomed  the gathering, MoinuddeenKaanjar presented vote of thanks and RafeeqBelthangady was master of the program.

Dubai, May 20: Dubai-based Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club’s humanitarian services in charge Naseer Karaje team have appreciated the efforts of Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner, Mangaluru Airport director, NGOs of Mangaluru, and MLA for extending a royal welcome to second batch of repatriates from Dubai that landed at Mangaluru Airport on May 18.

There was so much of confusions when 1st batch of repatriation flight landed in Mangaluru airport on 12th May due to lack of proper arrangements and co ordination.

This time due to proper arrangements and special supervision by the DC everything was driven smoothly. It has given a confidence to all the Manglurean expats of Dubai in returning to their native places, the KSCC said.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.
