Bengaluru, Apr 19: Sleeping on the terrace to beat the summer heat turned costly for a tea shop owner: Burglars struck at his house in Bapujinagar, Byatarayanapura, on Tuesday night and fled with gold ornaments and cash.
Venkatesh N, 58, said he, his wife and two children locked the house and went to the terrace at 11pm to sleep. “But when I woke up the next day and came down to open the main door, I was shocked to see the lock broken. The burglars had fled with 100 grams of gold ornaments and Rs 50,000 cash,” his complaint read.
In a similar incident at Ramamurthynagar, east Bengaluru, burglars escaped with gold jewellery from the house of Anthoni Vinil, a private company employee, on April 12. Vinil said he’d locked the main door and gone to the first floor to sleep in the open passage. He realised about the burglary when he woke up the next morning.
