Burnt remnants of Rs 1,000, Rs 500 notes found in UP

Lucknow, Nov 10: A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the demonetisationof Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, the burnt remnants of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes were found at a place in Bareilly on Wednesday, police said.

Burnt Informed sources said the burnt currency notes were reportedly brought in sacks and then dumped by workers of a company on Parsa Kheda road at C B Ganj in Bareilly.

Police officials said prima facie, the currency notes appeared to have been cut, damaged and then burnt.

The police has since taken over the remains of the currency notes and the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) officials have been informed of the incident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday evening announced demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 denomination currency notes.

Instead of burning, donate to the poor people / relatives and advice them to deposit in their bank accounts .... 2 laks per person .... in this way, your headache is gone ... Indians got white funds and poor people / relatives are benefited .... So many benefits with one master stoke ... Naren, Bupa, kaisa hai idea ....

Should have distributed amongst poor people around....

Masjid al-Haram will open for prayers in a few days: Al Sudais

Newsroom, Apr 29: Abdul Rahman Al Sudais, the imam of the Grand Mosque in Makkah has hinted that Muslims will be allowed to perform prayers again at the holiest mosque after a few days.

Al Sudais, who is also the president of the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, predicted this while answering a question from a reporter about the possibility of having worshippers gather again at the mosque.

He said that soon people will be allowed to return to the mosque for prayers and for circumambulation around the holy Kaaba.

The authorities care about people more than anything else, he said. "All Muslims should pray to Allah to help us through this pandemic. People must be careful and take necessary precautions to protect themselves and others," he added.

Covid-19: Karnataka police raids 120 shops black marketing food grains

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Police on Wednesday conducted surprise raids at nearly 120 shops in Bengaluru following complaints of black marketing and sale of foodgrains above the MRP rate.

Sandip Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Bengaluru in a tweet said that action has been initiated against these shopkeepers.

Though the government has maintained the supply chain of essential items, few shopkeepers have used the lockdown opportunity to charge higher prices for essential items.

Mangaluru | 7-day-old child from Ullal tests positive for COVID-19

Mangaluru, Jul 8: A seven-day-old baby from Kallapu near Permannur village, within Ullal town limits in Mangaluru taluk has tested positive for COVID-19.

The baby’s mother, while pregnant, was admitted to a private hospital in the town on June 30.

Her samples, which were sent for testing before delivery, reported positive, doctor said.

On Wednesday, the baby’s tests too reported positive for COVID-19.
