CAB aims to protect 1.5 cr Hindus: Nalin Kumar Kateel

Mangaluru, Dec 14: Amid stiff opposition to the new Citizenship law, Karnataka BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Saturday said the bill has been introduced to protect 1.5 crore Hindus.

Addressing party workers in the city, Mr Kateel asked them to strive towards making the district Congress 'Mukt'.

Expressing his gratitude to the electorate for showing faith in Narendra Modi-led BJP Government after having won 12 of the 15 seats in the Assembly bypolls, he said that the party is aiming to win 90 per cent Gram Panchayat elections in Dakshina Kannada.

Mangaluru, Jan 17: An auto-mobile shop at Deralakatte here caught fire on Friday incurring huge loss on the shopkeeper.

According to police, the incident happened in the morning when the shop owner opened the shop.

Locals suspect that miscreants might have set the shop on fire and had escaped from the scene at night.

Mangaluru, May 25: D V Sadananda Gowda, Union Minister for Chemical and Fertilizer, has once again written to the Ministry of External Affairs urging to take steps to operate more repatriation flights from Gulf countries to Karnataka. 

In his second letter in 10 days addressed to Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Union Minister for External Affairs, expressed regret over not giving due priority for the repatriation of Kannadigas in the middle east during the extended second phase of Vande Bharat Mission. 

"I shall be grateful if you could personally intervene and instuct the concerned in arranging flights to Mangaluru and Bengaluru from Gulf countries in existing schedule itself," Mr Gowda urged Mr Jayashankar.

Mangalore, Mar 18: The Dakshina Kannada District Home Guards felicitated social activist and Executive Director of Centre for Integrated Learning, Sachitha Nandagopal at the Home Guards district office to mark the International Women's Day recently.

She was recognised for her achievements and contributions to the society in the field of education, culture and mental health.

Sachitha Nandagopal, a former Head of Department of Journalism at Besant Women's College and Principal of CMR Post Graduate Centre for Media Studies, Bangalore, is the Co-Founder of Centre for Integrated Learning, Mangalore which is an NGO working in the field of alternative education, adding value to the present education system. As a Facilitator in Dance Movement Therapy, she has founded Anveshanam - Centre for Mindfulness and Emotional Wellbeing, an organisation dedicated to addressing mental health issues.

She was honoured by District Commandant, Dakshina Kannada Home Guards, Dr. Muralimohan Chunthar. Senior Home Guard Ramesh Bhandary, Diwakar, Mahesh and lady personnel of Home Guards were present on the occasion.
