Bengaluru, Sept 14: The Cabinet today approved Karnataka Electric Vehicle and Storage Policy, today.
Briefing newsmen after the Cabinet meeting held at Vidhana Soudha, Law and Parliamentary Affairs T B Jayachandra said this will arrest environment pollution and encourage use of electric vehicles in place of polluting fossil fuel vehicles which should be phased out in phased manner in the next two decades.
He said that the Cabinet gave its approval in principle for taking up funding for Lift Irrigation project at a cost of Rs 290 Crore to provide drinking water to Koppal and Yelburga Taluk from Tunga-Bhadra river.
Mr Jayachandra said that the Cabinet decided to form a Monitoring Committee under State Urban Development Department Additional Chief Secretary to prepare and submit a project report for building Ring Roads in all District Headquarters and to monitor implementation of the project.
He said that the Cabinet decided to approach National Law School of India University to study pros and cons of implementing a uniform law for the functioning of local bodies in the State.
The Minister said that the Cabinet has given administrative approval to develop and build roads at an estimated cost of Rs 2095 crore to ease traffic congestion on 155 km road in the Capital by State Road Development Board.
