Bengaluru, Aug 31: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is likely to expand his council of ministers by filling the three vacancies on September 1.
Legislative Council members H M Revanna (Kuruba), R B Thimmapur (Dalit Left) and Tiptur MLA K Shadakshari (Lingayat) have emerged as strong contenders to get ministerial berths. Sources in the chief minister’s secretariat said while it is more or less confirmed that the expansion will happen on September 1, an intimation is yet to be sent to Raj Bhavan.
Siddaramaiah is also likely to discuss Cabinet expansion with AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka K C Venugopal on Thursday with the latter in Bengaluru to interact with party workers and ministers.
This apart, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) working president Dinesh Gundu Rao was not very forthcoming when asked to comment on Thimmapur, and whether he will be inducted into the council of ministers following the BBMP report. “How does anybody know that he will be made a minister? If Thimmapur has wronged, law will take its course,” Rao said.
