Lucknow, Aug 14: After Union Minister Ananth Kumar said that Uttar Pradesh lacks the infrastructure to conduct the Aero Show, Aviation Minister of the State, Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi, on Tuesday averred that his state is capable of hosting the show.

He said, "Uttar Pradesh is the birth land of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. We have everything here. We are conducting something as massive as Kumbh Mela, we are also capable of making arrangements for Aero Show."

According to media reports, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath urged Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to hold the event in his state stating that the endeavour will benefit the defence production there.

Amid speculations of the Aero Show being shifted to Uttar Pradesh from Bengaluru, Union Minister Ananth Kumar on Tuesday said that no decision has been taken by the Defence Minister on the venue for the conduction of Aero Show for 2019 and added that Uttar Pradesh lacks the infrastructure needed to conduct the show.

Ever since its inception in 1996, Bengaluru has been playing host to Asia's biggest air show.

Reports about shifting the venue have triggered a public spat between the Congress and BJP.

Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Tuesday also wrote a letter to the Prime Minister, seeking his approval to conduct the show in Bengaluru.

"Bengaluru being the hub for defence and aviation majors of the country, is certainly the most suitable place to conduct the show," he said in the letter.

Aero India is a biennial air show and aviation exhibition held in Bengaluru at the Yelahanka Air Force Station. It is organised by the Defence Exhibition Organisation under the Ministry of Defence.

New Delhi, Mar 11: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “destabilising” the elected Congress government in Madhya Pradesh.

Gandhi also said the PM may have “missed” noticing the 35 per cent crash in global oil prices and asked him to pass on the benefit to Indians by slashing petrol prices.

“Hey @PMOIndia, while you were busy destabilising an elected Congress Govt, you may have missed noticing the 35 per cent crash in global oil prices.

“Could you please pass on the benefit to Indians by slashing #petrol prices to under 60 per litre? Will help boost the stalled economy,” the former Congress chief said on twitter.

Congress' prominent youth leader Jyotiraditya Scindia quit the party on Tuesday and appeared set to join the BJP amid a rebellion in Madhya Pradesh by his supporters, pushing the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government to the brink of collapse.

On Tuesday morning, as much of India was celebrating Holi, Scindia met senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, following which he called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence.

Kolkata, Jun 29: Sweet-loving Bengalis have something to cheer about in COVID-19 time as the West Bengal government decided to come out with a "sandesh" which will contain honey from Sundarbans and increase immunity, an official said on Sunday.

Cotton cheese made from cow milk will be mixed with pure honey from the Sunderbans to prepare the "Arogya Sandesh" which will also have extracts of tulsi leaves, an official of the Animal Resources Development Department said.

No artificial flavours would be added to the sweetmeat which will be available in the department's outlets in the city and neighbouring districts, he said.

The sandesh will boost the immune system as a whole but it is not a COVID-19 antidote, the official said.

Sunderbans Affairs Minister Manturam Pakhira said the honey for making Arogya Sandesh will be collected from beehives in places such as Pirkhali, Jharkhali and other parts of the Sunderbans and it will be stored in a scientific manner.

The sandesh is expected to hit the shelves in another two months and the pricing will be within the reach of the common man, the animal resources development department official said.

Earlier this month, a reputed sweetmeat chain of Kolkata came out with an "Immunity Sandesh" claiming that it contains various herbs and spices such as haldi (turmeric), tulsi, saffron, and cardamom and Himalayan honey, which will boost immunity to fight novel coronavirus.
