"Wherever death may surprise us, let it be welcome, provided that this our battle cry may have reached some receptive ear and another hand may be extended to wield our weapons," Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, guerrilla leader, diplomat and military theorist.

Ernesto 'Che' Guevara had written as his own epitaph, days before he was captured and executed. Born on June 14, 1928, he was a major figure of the Cuban Revolution and has in years since his death, become a symbol of rebellion and global insignia in popular culture.

As the world remembers Che Guevara in his 91st birth anniversary, here is a look at 7 books one should read on the Argentine Marxist revolutionary.

The Motorcycle Diaries: The memoir traces the early travels of Marxist revolutionary Ernesto 'Che' Guevara, while he was a 23-year-old medical student, and his friend Alberto Granado, a 29-year-old biochemist. The book traces their journey on a 1939 Norton 500cc as they set out to explore a South America they only knew in books. The book has been described as a classic coming-of-age story: a voyage of adventure and self-discovery that is both political and personal.

Guerrilla Warfare: A military handbook written by the revolutionary and published in 1961, the book draws upon Guevara's personal experience as a guerrilla soldier during the Cuban Revolution, generalizing for readers who would undertake guerrilla warfare in their own countries.

Episodes of the Cuban Revolutionary War: An autobiographical book by Che Guevara, it traces his experiences during the Cuban Revolution to overthrow the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista.

Killing Che: The Chuck Pfarrer novel is a fictive thriller about the action-packed hunt for history’s most infamous rebel insurgent: Che Guevara. The book is a stunning re-creation of a conflict that sealed the fates of one of the 20th centuries most complex political figures, whose death only got him immortality ion popular culture.

The Death of Che Guevara: The Jay Cantor novel draws on history, myth, and his own prodigious imagination to take on the life and death of revolutionary icon Che Guevara as it traces the journey of the scion of a liberal Argentine family who abandoned a medical career to become a revolutionary. The book also offers a look at Latin America’s revolutionary struggles apart from the life of Guevara himself.

Che Wants to See You: The Untold Story of Che Guevara: The book by Che's right-hand man Ciro Bustos shares the story that perhaps, only he is able to recount — what really happened in Bolivia in 1967 and why he did not betray Che. The book is a riveting memoir of revolution in South America by Che Guevara’s Argentine lieutenant.

Toronto, Apr 25: Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Thursday (local time) announced a new CAD 1.1 billion package supporting vaccine research and clinical trials as well as expanded testing capacity.

"We are putting in place an additional CAD 1.1 billion dollars for a national medical and research strategy to address COVID-19," Trudeau said during his daily novel coronavirus pandemic briefing on Thursday.

"This plan has three pillars -- research on vaccines and other treatments, support for clinical trials and expanding national testing and modelling," he added.

Trudeau pointed out that CAD 82 million of the total sum will be directed to the development of a vaccine and treatments against the virus, while CAD 471 million will go towards supporting clinical trials.

A further CAD 249 million is being allocated for expanding testing capacity and modelling, the Prime Minister added.

According to Trudeau, this funding will be allotted to a new "immunity task force" commissioned with conducting serology testing -- blood tests looking for the presence of antibodies indicative of exposure to the virus and subsequent immune response.

He said the taskforce, comprising the country's top medical experts, including Chief Public Health Officer Dr Theresa Tam, will test at least a million Canadians over the next two years.

The funding announced today comes in addition to the CAD 200 million committed for COVID-19-related research on March 11.

Trudeau has repeatedly stressed the daily constraints that much of the population is adhering to will be the new normal until a vaccine is developed.

As of Thursday, Canada has confirmed a total of 40,824 COVID-19 cases since the onset of the outbreak, out of which more than 2,000 have proven to be fatal, according to the latest figures from the country's public health agency.

San Francisco, Mar 14: Microsoft on friday announced that co-founder Bill Gates has left its board of directors to devote more time to philanthropy.

The 64-year-old stopped being involved in day-to-day operations at the firm more than a decade ago, turning his attention to the foundation he launched with his wife, Melinda.

Gates served as chairman of Microsoft's board of directors until early in 2014 and has now stepped away entirely, according to the Redmond-based technology giant.

“It's been a tremendous honor and privilege to have worked with and learned from Bill over the years,” Microsoft chief executive and company veteran Satya Nadella said in a release.

Nadella said Microsoft would continue to benefit from Gates' “technical passion and advice” in his continuing role as a technical advisor.
“I am grateful for Bill's friendship and look forward to continuing to work alongside him,” he added.

Gates left his CEO position in 2000, handing the company reins to Steve Ballmer to devote more time to his charitable foundation.

He gave up the role of chairman at the same time Nadella became Microsoft's third CEO in 2014.

Regularly listed among the world's richest people, William H. Gates was a geeky-looking young man when he and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft in 1975.

Gates went on to turn his attention from software to fighting disease and other humanitarian challenges with his wife, under the auspices of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
