Chitrek Bangera elected president of Billava Sangha Kuwait

Kuwait: The annual general body meeting of Billava Sangha Kuwait witnessed the emergence of the new Managing Committee rencently at the Indian Community School, Salmiya. Lots of other cultural programs were lined up to keep the audience entertained.

The cultural programs were graciously hosted by JayalaxmiVishwas, as the program commence with the lighting of the lamp and release of the yearbook “BillavaBolpu” by the President of the association Mr. Mohandas Poojary. SudhaSandesh gracefully welcomed the audience with her welcome dance while other kids grooved to other Hindi dances. It was followed by a brief skit, which essayed details about Bramha Shree Narayan Guru Swamy and Gokarnatheswar temple, Kudroli under the able direction of Mahesh Poojary&ManojPoojary.

The President in his speech urged all Billavas to stay united and strong with each other and urged to work for the upliftment of the community. The General Secretary for the year 2014,SushmaBangera read out the annual activities of the association, while the treasurer, GauthamSuvarna read out the financial report for the year, both of which were approved by the members. The scholarshipinitiated by the association, was distributed to 3 deserving students by Mr. RohitSanil and Mr. SatishKunder.

The committee also gave an emotional farewell to the outgoing President of the association, Mr. Mohandas Poojary, as he has retired and will soon leave to his homeland after serving in the country for 32 years. He wished very well for the association and everyone the best of luck in future. He was felicitated by the advisors, Mr. Manoj Kumar and Mr. Raghu Poojary.

Soon after the felicitation program, cultural program followed with a comedy skit, comedy dance by elders,various dances by our talented little Billava kids. Singing and music were also a part of the event by our

The sound and lighting was arranged by Zain Event Management Company, whilethe photography was ably handled by BipinKirodian.The event was concluded with a speech from the newly elected President,Mr. ChitrekBangera, a vote of thanks by the new General Secretary Mr. Vijay Kavoor, singing of the Indian National Anthem and tasty dinner served by Mingash Restaurant.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.
