CM to launch 'Grama Vastavya' in North Karnataka from June 21

Bengaluru, Jun 7: Karnataka Chief Minister H.D Kumaraswamy will commence his "Grama Vastavya" scheme from Northern Karnataka this time from June 21.

The programme will be initiated from Yadagiri, Kalburgi, Raichur and will finally finish in the Bidar city of Karnataka.

The agenda is an extension of the "Grama Vastavya" programme, first started in Kumaraswamy's regime as the state's chief minister during 2006-2007 with BJPs Yeddyurappa as his Deputy Chief Minister.

After his party, Janata-dal Secular (JDS), faced a huge defeat in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, the programme focuses upon strengthening its relations with the locals and noting the plight of the common man.

Kumaraswamy said that the village stay scheme will pave the party's way to an enhanced political standing. The CM also met his party leaders, along with Siddaramaiah to lay out an action plan for the smooth functioning of the presently ruling Congress-JDS government in the state.

The landslide victory of BJP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with 25 of the 28 seats is believed to be a cause for the re-establishment of the programme. JDS won only one seat in the elections.

Udupi, May 24: Three among the 18 coronavirus positive cases reported in Udupi district today were policemen. 

A police constable of Karkala Rural Police Station and ASI of Ajekar Police Station were tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday and authorities have taken steps to seal the Police Stations they were working. A policeman from Brahmavar police station also tested positive.

The district administration reported seal Karkala Rural Police station, Ajekar Police Station, and Brahmavar Police Station. Apart from them Karkala Town Station and Circle station are being sealed. All the policemen and policewomen working in these five stations will be quarantined.

Superintendent of Police N Vishnuvardha said that ''all the primary contacts of the police officers who were tested positive will undergo screening and their swabs will be collected and sent to Lab for test.''

Madikeri, Aug 6: Heavy rainfall triggered landslides at Brahmagiri hills in Talacauvery in Kodagu on Thursday.

Four members of the Talacauvery temple priest family are missing in the landslides informed Annies Kanmani Joy, Kodagu DC.

She also informed that Advanced Rescue Team has been rushed to incident site.

According to the reports, houses belonging to two priest families were destroyed in the incident. 

However, one house was vacant as family had moved to Bhagamandala.

Visuals from Kodagu showed a flood-like situation, with houses and vehicles submerged under rainwater.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continued to lash Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Chikkamagaluru districts on Thursday.

Bengaluru, Mar 27: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) on Friday formed a task force to monitor the spread of COVID-19 disease in the state and provide guidelines and suggestions to contain its proliferation in the state.

In a press release, the KPCC has stated that the 15 member committee will be headed by the senior Congress leader and former Health minister K R Rameshkumar also included two other former health ministers, Shivanand Patil and U T Khader as the members of the committee.
