No wonder that nowadays we see lots of surprises and conspiracies in the world of politics. We have been well-informed and warned by many scholars about the wicked practices of politics. However, knowingly or unknowingly we are so much mixed up with this wicked system of politics that we accept it without questioning or bothering.
Since we all claim to be the followers of any religion or belief we pursue, have we ever gone through our scriptures to understand how they have influenced and educated us in our worldly issues?
Here I wish to tell you a story, a story of political conspiracy that took place thousands years back in Arabian Peninsula. This example gives all of us the opportunity to briefly see and understand the political conspiracies which not so surprisingly continue even now.
I remember a hadith of our beloved Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) where he said, "The Qur'an consists of five themes, things lawful, things unlawful, clear and positive precepts (principle), mysteries and examples. Then consider that lawful which is there declared to be so, and that which is forbidden as unlawful, obey the precepts, believe in the mysteries, and take warning from the examples."
So let us now see an example shown in the Qura’n to understand how the political conspiracies can take place and how we can educate ourselves from it.
You may remember the story of the people of elephant, King Abraha and birds called Ababeel mentioned in Surah Al Feel (The Elephant). This Surah refers to the famous incident which took place before the birth of last and final Prophet Muhammed (pbuh). Prophet Muhammed was born in the same year.
The story goes this way: The Abyssinian governor of Yemen, Abraha Al-Ashram after expelling the Persians (atheists at that time) from Yemen thought to build a house like the Ka’ba of Makkah in Sana, Yemen. For that, he built a super luxurious cathedral and called the Arabs to perform the pilgrimage there instead of the Ka’ba in Makkah. As Ka’ba was the religious center of all Arab tribes and paganism was deeply rooted in the minds and hearts of the Arabs, it was difficult to eradicate it from their mind. Even they believed themselves to be the descendants of Prophet Abraham - Ibrahim (pbuh) and Prophet Ishmael (pbuh) who built the house of Ka’ba.
However, the Arabs did not turn away from their Holy House. As a result, Abraha made up his mind to pull down the Ka'ba. In order to achieve his objective of turning the Arabs away from it, he started to claim that the Arabs had entered his cathedral and desecrated it, which he took as an excuse and raised an army of elephants to invade Makkah and demolish the Ka’ba. When they arrived in the vicinity of Makkah, Allah sent big groups of birds called Ababil equipped with stones of sand and clay, striking them on Abraha’s army. This rain of stones distressed elephants leaving his army in complete chaos and distraction.
In some context we might assume that the desecration of the cathedral led Abraha to march his army to destroy the Ka’ba. Well, that was not only the case.
When we read the Surah 105 Al-Feel where Allah says: “ Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the people of the Elephant? Did He not cause their treacherous plan to be futile, and send against them flights of birds, Striking them with stones of baked clay. Thus He made them like an empty field of stalks and straw, (of which the corn) has been eaten up”.
Now here Allah says in second line “did He not cause their treacherous plan to be futile” . So what is this treacherous plan? If you go back to history you will see that there were two superpowers at that time. One was the Persian Empire (who were atheists at that time) and the other was the Roman Empire (Christians). These two powers were in breach of occupying the Arab land. But for what? and what was there in Arab land at that time especially in Makah? Isn’t it a very interesting question?
Well, the city of Makkah at that time was not only a pilgrimage and holy place for Arab tribes, but it was also a strategic trading route. After expelling the Persian empire’s hold on Yemen the Roman Empire appointed Abraha Al-Ashram (Abyssinian/Ethiopian) as the Governor of Yemen and hatched the plan of destroying the Ka’ba not only to transform the region into their faith but also to divert the trade & benefits from Makkah to Yemen.
My intension of choosing the above incident is to explain our readers that how a capitalist mindset or entities can use various kinds of false allegations to implement their wicked plots and how they create excuses for the same. The most powerful and effective method used is religion including race, nation, colour etc. We may not have to go for a research on history or world politics, as this kind of evil structure is evident at present as we can see what is happening in our own state and districts which is totally against the human and ethical values.
Unfortunately, these kinds of plots are still continuing in world at large and we are the witness for such plots committed by certain nations. The innocents are paying the price for such plots of greediness which have been planned in order to occupy the political and economical benefits. As I said before, knowingly or unknowingly we become the part of such plots because we chose to be mute spectators and not bothered.
It would be wise enough that we all join hands and display a strong sense of unity and brotherhood irrespective of creed, caste, color or religion so that we will be able to contribute towards a peaceful co-existence and thereby build a peaceful world for all human race.
I believe that this historical example gave us an impression of being aware of such facts. Self-awareness is very important as it gives us the option to be precautious and prepare for the line of action. This historical incident is very important example which Allah said in Quran for our enlightenment.
