Under-19 and Under-16 cricketers selected for KSCA Academy coaching

Mangalore, April 6: Karnataka State Cricket Association Mangalore Zone has announced the list of Under-19 and Under-16 players selected for the KSCA Academy coaching camps.

The camps are scheduled to be held simultaneously in Mangalore, Manipal, Madikeri and Gonikoppa from April 9.

In Madikeri and Gonikoppa, more players will be selected before the start of the camp, a KSCA spokesperson said.

Many players could not attend the selection trials due to examinations in these areas.

Mangaluru, Jun 16: Dakshina Kannada today reported 79 fresh covid-19 cases, taking the total infections in the coastal district to 370.

Out of the 79 positive cases, 75 persons had returned from Saudi Arabia. All of them have been shifted to the designated COVID hospital in Mangaluru for treatment.

As many as 11 persons today discharged from the hospital taking the total number of discharges to 145. There are 217 active cases in the district. 

Udupi district today reported 7 new covid cases taking the total to 1035. Among them 817 have discharged from the hospitals including today’s 81. The number of active cases is 217.

Mangaluru, July 15: Moulana Iqbal Mulla Nadvi, an acclaimed Islamic scholar and Qadhi (Khazi) of Bhatkal, passed away at a private hospital in Mangaluru. 

The elderly scholar was critically for past few weeks. 

He had served as the president of Jamia Islamia Bhatkal for several years.

He was known among Islamic scholars of Karnataka for his boldness, sincerity and wisdom.

Last rites are expected to be held in Bhatkal.

Gadag, Feb 20: A 33-year-old Muslim man is all set to become a seer at Muruga Rajendra Mutt in Gadag.

Ordained by Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami of the mutt, Dewan Sharief Mullah claims he was taking the step not under any duress but after being "guided by the almighty".

"Nobody asked me to do it. The almighty came in my mind and guided me.... They have put the sacred thread and given me the responsibility. They have given me the 'Ishta-linga' and this honour. I have done the 'Ishta-linga dharan'. I will walk on the path of dharma. Love and sacrifice is the message given to me. That is what I want to propagate," he said.

Sri Murugarajendra Koraneswara Swami said, "It does not matter what caste you belong to. If God appears to you for a path of goodwill and sacrifice, you will do it regardless of the manmade restrictions of birth and caste."
